Hi, just wanted to ask about the programmable clean feed outputs on the Sony 8K. Do they work pretty much the same as the Kalypso?
4 outputs per ME, any combination of keyers with either the pgm A bus or utlitly bus with any keyers as well?
Is it snapshot based or config based?
I assume a PC hooked up on the network of the switcher can make changes if they are config based? Like an EIC
thanks
Bill

Rick.. thanks for confirming the pgm streams.. The system manager info was new to me. I thought the system manager was just for sharing files easier. Thought you could still have a network that more then one switcher is on that can share files and such. I guess for security reasons it is only done through system manager. thanks Bill

The others are PVW, Key PVW 1&2, Full Clean, etc). Yes, it pretty much works like Calypso. At the moment it is not snapshot based, but I'm hearing rumors of something very big being announed and delivered at NAB. I can't get a straight answer out of any of my contacts. Maybe silence = big news and cool feature ??? Anyway at the moment it is config based but you can have any combo of keyers to any output, even duplicating the same key over multiple outputs. If you have the System Manager option you can do the changes through a PC like you're talking about. Sony is paranoid about security on the switcher. I've been told many times, confidentially, that they're puzzled how EICs would allow just anyone to connect a PC to a Calypso with no security at all and let that PC just start making changes and transfering things on and off. Sony's System Manager prevents "just anyone" from connecting. The PC must be authorized by whoever runs the System Manager gateway. RE
