Hi there
I have a job coming up on sunday on some sgrange format which only runs in our J3.

I remember hearing that J3s are either not usable or at least un adviable in a Linear suite, Anyone heard anything about it???

Thanks

Rog

thanks Sounds to me like I should clone the tapes to normal Digis, especially with this client, he's never "in the best humour" if you know what I mean even when things are going well. Thankfully we only do a few jobs a year for him. Thanks for the advice chaps. Rog

at Scripps Networks we never put the J3 in a linear bay, but we did use it as a feeder deck to the Avids. It should work fine in an online bay, I'd probably use the DVW-500 spec file for it. Just realize that its not a very robust deck ... I'd shuttle as little as possible, and realize its going to be slower than a regular D-Beta deck ... it takes forever to fast forward. Good Luck.

HI Rog, Let's see. . . I seem to remember hooking up a J3 deck @ Harpo a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't remember how good/bad it was. The J3 is a digi-beta-like deck, right? No matter what, at the very least you can use either a dvw500 or bvw75 or sony specfile. Not sure how accurate it'll be, but it should at least get you in the ball park. -JH
