Hi to everyone, I'm Rory Ward, and I'm a freelance vision mixer, based in London in the UK. I've just joined the forum, but I've been surfing into this site and reading posts on and off for years. I've been vision mixing, as we term it here, since 1991, and I currently do a fairly good spread of stuff, from entertainment shows for the likes of the BBC and ITV here in the UK, to a fair bit of football, or soccer, as you guys would probably call it.

Hi to Dave Bernstein, whom with I worked on tennis last November in China.

Hopefully I can provide some items of interest to you guys, and I'm looking forward to using and contributing to the forum.

Okay then, more later.

cheers

Hi again Rory: YES I was in Staines.... it was very amusing, but the Visions people were very accomodating. When I arrived at Visions they had a package waiting for me then a phone call came from a colleague who also lives close to Staines. He just happened to be on a job for Visions in Wales and dropped off some British chocolate for me along with a CD of his pictures from a show we worked together on. He is a stedi-cam owner/operator who I worked with in Egypt... maybe you know him, Mike Scott. He did all the stedi-cam work on the Graham Norton Show but he does mostly entertainment. Nice guy and we had a lot of laughs together in Egypt. The boxing match was at the Hilton in London across from Hyde Park, but as I mentioned, we only did our set up day in Staines. I han't been to the Hilton in years and I have a great story about that place when I was a 15 years old. It's too long a story to tell here, but it is funny. Sorry to hear about your accomodations in Monaco ... I think I know where your talking about and the distance from port. Anyway I won't write a novel here but I would like to take you up on your offer when I come to the UK again. I have old dear friends who live in North London so I always try to take extra time there when I can. Take care. All the best, Rick.

Hey Rick I've just finished the masters cup final in Monaco, so am back off to the uk tomorrow. No such luck as you I'm afraid, my accomodation was not quite so upmarket. I had a room at the Pierre et Vacances in Beausoleil, just up the hill and about half an hour's walk from the stadium, but my room overlooked a busy street that never seemed to quieten down, with a view of another building. After a few complaints, I got myself moved to somewhere better, and was able to get some sleep. I am amused to hear that you were in Staines in the uk! Not too far from where I live actually, but if you're ever in the vicinity again, allow me to show you some better places! As for Mike's TD exchange programme, well again I'd agree without hesitation. Cheers Rick All the best Rory

Hi Mike I'm not currently booked on any of those shows, but do get in touch closer to the time and we can meet up for a drink or whatever. I was in contact with Trevor earlier in the week and he told me he was on route to NAB, so you might bump into him if you are going to be there. I think that the TD exchange program is a fabulous idea, if only... I occasionally cross paths with Sarah Neal at Sky in London, when next I do I'll certainly pass on your greetings. Compliments on your website, by the way. Cheers Rory

Hi Rory: Welcome to Editsuite.com... it's a nice group of people here. I read that your in Monaco... I was just there in November working on a show at the Casino and another location across the street. Nice city for sure. I enjoyed my time there and didn't want it to end as it is very beautiful. Did you stay in the Marriott across from the Stadium? Nice views from there and they have a nice breakfast. Visions provided our facilities in Monaco and I was also at their place in Staines a month and a half earlier as we did a set up day there for a boxing match. Hope to be able to meet you sometime. By the way, I like Mike's idea about a TD exchange program ..... except I would pass on Starkeville, Mississippi. Make him give you Hawaii! :-) Cheers ... Rick.

Rory, I'll be in the UK for 3 weeks doing The Open Championship in July then I'll be back in London in Sept. working the WGC Amex- you working any of those shows too? I had drinks with Trevor Bailey and Sarah Neal in Portugal last November- if you see them on the road give them a hello for me. I think we should have a TD exchange program- where we trade jobs for a year and get to go to all the cool places in Europe. We'll return the favor by letting you go to wonderful places like Starkeville, MS. Mike Tiffee

Hey Dave, great to hear from you. You're getting married - wehey!! All the best for you and your fiance buddy. I'm in Monaco working on ATP masters tennis at the moment, trying to speak French to the locals who I guess are generally humouring me! Thanks for the invite, I shall definitely look you up if I ever get there, likewise if you find yourself in London, come and check out a bit of Surrey down on the river Thames. Bonsoir Rory

Howzit Rory I am fine and well and about to get married! I hope things are going well for you on the domestic front! I am no longer on the Masters tour (which is where Manny emailed from, John) as I priced myself out of reach there. No worries because I am making up for that with local work in LA which, through the local union, pays health care and retirement benefits on top of a better rate (as well as meal penalties, overtime and all those other things you europeans sadly wouldn't know anything about). If you happen to find yourself in LA, please give me a ring. Remember (in the words of Wacko Jaco): "Keep it Tidy!" Hello please (totsiens) Dave

Hi John, good of you to say hi. In answer to your question, I certainly am, but definitely much more since I went freelance again. Been seeing a bit of the country thanks to Sky, visiting the north for footy, which has been fun. Finally starting to get called upon by the Beeb these days as well, so it's quite healthy, and I only hope it gets better. While I was staff at auntie Beeb though, I could hardly get arrested on a sports OB though, very political and closed up, so I'm much more positive now. Looking forward to bumping into you sometime...
