Has anyone ever seen a Fast Forward drive that will not work in one unit but functions in another FF? I got no video off the physical drive labeled "bottom drive" no matter which bay I put it. It also showed that the disk was 99% full despite the client's claims that it should be less then 40%. Today I was able to put it in the home shows FF and the drive worked perfectly and showed 37% capacity.

The clients other drive worked perfectly and they say that both were recorded at the same time.

The drop began when ENGINEERS were no longer needed at stations.

It went out way before the duals. This tinkertoy trend is part of a long downward spiral.

Broadcast quality went out when someone decided to take a huge step backwards and insititute dual feeds! They don't care about quality, and they certainly don't care about you and how much work you have to do to make it all work. Your given less equipment to work with then expect the same show. Something is a little off kilter here!

Fast Forward, Fox Box or Duet. Which is most troublesome? Maybe we can genlock them all together and watch some sort of black hole develop. At what point did this business sacrifice reliability for utter cheapness? Whatever happened to "broadcast quality"? mg

Hiya Mike: Yes it was great to see you again. Set up is over rated and your right it got in the way -- beers are on me the next time I'm in town. We'll have to make a plan. The show went fine technically for me. The only issue was I ran out of keyframes on that switcher. I let the EIC know and they were going to drain the memory. On a 4K they have to jump a cable on a board and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. I just used another set up which was working ok, but still I didn't have enough KF's. Ce la vie! You just make the best of it. Hope to see you again soon. Keep in touch! Best, Rick.

Rick, it was nice to chat, too bad setup got in the way. Hope your show goes well. Too bad we couldn't have shared a few cold ones, not at RFK, the prices are waay too high.

But seriously, how is your schedule next week? I'll come and visit you. Feel better now?? Yes it's back to LA and I arrive at 9:30 AM Friday, whatcha doing?? In fact your name came up today with someone else. I'll talk to you about it in person. Call me during the week and we'll set something up. Promise :-)

Hi Mike: I've seen it ... very strange indeed! It's something to do with the Fast Forward itself and I know it was an easy fix by taking the unit apart and making sure a connection inside was properly connected. I know it doesn't make sense, but that is what I remember engineering doing to solve the problem. DC this weekend for me. I'll come by the truck sometime Friday - maybe you'll be there! Best regards, Rick.
