Has anyone ever done this show on the 8000?
How can I disable the run lever for the 8000?
Beth, I am wondering the same thing. I did that show and while I didn't bump the lever, it was something I was worried about. I did ask a Sony guy I know about it and he said he doesn't believe there was an option to disable it but I have heard from other people that it was possible. If it isn't possible, this seems like an easy option to add for future software releases. I hope it comes to light. Also, Beth, was it you that programmed the "all" button in the next transition area to aid in getting to promos quicker? This was a nice little trick.

Beth, on HD-6 someone used white tape to disable the lever. Very simple and easily undone.

How can I disable the run lever for the 8000?

I just did the home game Wednesday and I barely know how to run the 8000. Jesse the TD did a great job giving descriptions of the show. Mike also will go through everything with you (He's a great director). I was able to get through the show with no problems (except my own) which is saying a lot. The replay effect in the shotbox resets everything. Remember to reset me2 if you run something besides the replay. It is snapshot 5 on ME2. I was pretty nervous going into it because I don't know the switcher, but was totally at ease after we taped the open. Dave Beckwith the engineer knows the switcher very well and can help answer questions too. :)

Tom, you must be in Detroit, right? The shotbox is set for recall and you use the run button to trigger them. BTW, I just counted six main effects along with a Lojack replay effect if a Boston catcher gets a guy trying to steal a base and the Friday baseball effect. Not that bad, just a lot of EVS promos, come off VT A. BTW, ME-3 keyers are set k1 cg1, k2 cg2, k3 bug, k4 vtA. That is on the NESN file. Email me if you want any more info, I have a day game tomorrow but any questions I'll try to answer.

The first show is on a friday. Thanks for the heads up on everything. Are the shotbox buttons programmed as recall and run or just recall?

One possible "gotcha" is that the replay swiches from ME-3 to ME-2 and then back, but a few transitions use source holds. You will need to remember which effects you need to preset. Something that might seem a little intimidating is that the shotbox is almost full of effects. Banks 3 & 4 have preproduction effects. You probably will use maybe 10 or so total, unless you have a Friday game. They have some Friday element, never saw it, we didn't do a Friday game. BTW, Mike usually will print an effects description sheet out for you so you can get to know the effects. The SpotBox uses Sony machine control, channel 3 is used by one of the tape ops, you have to make sure that EVS gets booted properly or you will not be able to control it.
Yes. If they are bringing HD-6, their home truck everything you need is there. Mike the director knows the switcher setup and will be able to answer most questions. (He was a TD at one point.)
Awesome. The truck was switched from one with a kalypso to HD-6. I'm looking forward to more time on the 8000.
