I am trying to help out a local indie who has an "ampex avc vista". All they want to do with it is chroma key over a green screen. I have had no luck getting a good clip out of this. I will either have the green outline or the black "squiggle" (for lack of knowledge of a better term). Does anyone know of any tricks with this old OLD switcher. The only controls I can find are the CK hue, brd adj, ins adj, and gain. Any and all suggestions other than telling them to buy a new switcher would be greatly appreciated ( I already tried to tell them that).

Thanks for all the help!!!!!

Ask not what your switcher can do for you, but what you can do for your switcher

There is an older thread somewhere in this site discussing chroma keys. You might check the archives for that. They need to look at their lighting first of all. Seperately lit chroma wall and subjuect with proper backlighting are the right place to begin. Backlights can be gel'ed with various colors to minimize the green halo effect caused by light from the chroma wall reflecting back on your subject. Scott
