Whenever the switcher is idle for long periods of time, the control panel will not wake up to button presses right away, sometimes it takes up to an hour to get it to respond. I have been unable to get it to respond the last two days.

Anybody else have this happen? If so, what is the fix?

There biggest culprit on a panel "zoning out" is something wrong with the control LAN. In your sony system there are three separate LANs, each of which should be on its own Ethernet switch. There is a good possibility that either the switch that has the Control LAN on it is having problems or, perhaps a daughterboard in the panel's CPU is intermittent. I wouldn't wait around to see if this gets better. I would call Sony service now. RE
