Did you TD the Steve Irwin memorial? If so, any specs?

The Cameras are Philips LDK 200. Each van is wired for 16 cameras + base stations + OCP units, although the standard complement is less than that, supplemented from other states and our "National Spares" whenever program needs exceed the standard number of cameras. Another 8 inputs to the Switcher could be used for Cameras that don't require CCU control within the truck. The Switcher is a Kalypso with the smaller "compact" panel (two vehicles have the full-size panel). The Menu is attached to the wall on an articulated arm that can bend to most convenient positions. External DVE is a DVEous - 2 channels V+K (or 4 channels video only). Character Generator is a Collage, with provision for two other units; we regularly use a PC-based software package from Namadgi with purpose-designed layouts for specific Sports we cover in each state. Audio is a Euphonics System 5 Digital desk with 70 inputs. Signals throughout the truck go via a Talia Condor Router; even monitors in the production area are all fed as Router outputs, so any source could go to any location. Monitor tallies follow the sources, so any monitor that has Cam1 will light a tally when Cam1 is on line. All Sources are on the router, so a Router Output can be used as an emergency switcher should the Vision Switcher fail. Nine Switcher outputs go to the Router for complex clean feed arrangements. A further 4 can be configured if needed. Videotape is 8 x Sony DVW A550P digital betacams, with 2 x EVS XT servers (each 4-in, 2-out). The truck has a roll-out section giving an extra metre or so width, and can be extended by one person. Stairs can be attached in a variety of places to suit the venue. An electrically-operated canopy extends over the doorways in the event of rain. Now I'm running out of things to write. Like any truck, it has its shortcomings, but on the whole it's a very good fleet of vehicles. All it needs is a beverage holder on the wall.

Brad, I was wondering about the general specs of the OB unit. Things like camera types, etc. I'm an engineer at heart, those things still interest me. Their production was good. Nice feed.

Mike No, the memorial was done by our Queensland branch in Brisbane, by Tim Christie. I'm from Sydney in New South Wales. Not sure what specs you'd be interested in, but our OB fleet has 8 near-identical vans. This Link takes you to a brief description of our vehicles. Surprisingly, they don't have a picture of the Kalypso on the site. I suspect the reason is that most of our fleet (including Queensland's) has the "compact" Kalypso panel, whereas our main competitor has the larger panel; while the features are the same, the client may be swayed by the much broader real estate of the competition.
