Thanks to all for the responses. I have no switcher with protocols in use within this situation. I need to play to air some clips (musical clips) to wait a start of transmision or program. I don?t know if the terms to describe my needs are correct. because my native language is spanish. My idea is with a PC, with a simple program (written here), select remotely, for example, one of four and play it. nothing else. still I am evaluating what to do. I have no money to buy an external controller for this job. I will try to contact Mehul. Thanks again and I?m very pleased to write in this forum. juan. :)
Thanks for your answer John, No, really I couldn?t get any info from Grass Valley. I work at a TV Station in Argentina and I would like to control a M Series machine. A so simple application, cue-up a single clip, play and stop. I have the odetics protocol specifications but the M doesn?t support it anymore. Another chance would be the VDCP protocol but I have not complete specifications. I will be thankful for any help you can give me, regards, Juan.
Juan...let us know what switcher/device you would like to use to control the M-Series. I'm running a Kalypso with AMP control of an M-Series, and have become pretty well versed in set-up and operation of the M box. We've also got a few other M boxes that are being used for other appliactions, so if I can't answer the question, I may know of someone who can help. Matt

jnprz - The AMP protocol "guru" at Grass Valley is Mehul Pandya. He's incredibly knowledgeable and has been very good about sharing information...depending on his work schedule. You might want to e-mail him at mehul.pandya@thomson.net. If anyone could help you, I'd be willing to bet that Mehul would be the man.

Or are you looking to write a program? Bill
