Need help if anyone has any ideas.

* TV News
* 4x3
* Switcher went live for first time on 2/8 for us
* Each show has own "Profile" on HDD (AM, PUBLIC, NOON, PM, WKEND, etc)
* Files are loaded from HDD w/ "All Select" (Different setup for each show)
* "Clear Before Load"
* "Load"

Problem that just arose 3 days ago (evening of 2/6)...
* Evening TD reported switcher doing "funky" things while building effects & shadowing (while news was being done on old switcher in old booth)
* Wed AM 3/7 -Switcher panel stops responding, FM's are in 16x9 & thumbnails are blank. DME's non responsive
* Reboot switcher (small chasis) - no change
* re-boot DCU (large chasis) looks to be OK,but heer is where MAJOR PROBLEM OCCURS...

Load a show from HDD - All files appear on list - switcher takes usual time of 8-10 to load up, but NOTHING load up anywhee - Snap-Shot Dev-User-DME-...NOTHING...board remains clear.

Also, as we looked at "Config" under File...All HDD "profiles" were not reflecting an update date, when we KNOW we had been doing routine saves (Building shows for 2/8 premeire)

But, if we load from and save to our backup Memory stick...All is fine on the stick.
Even loading from the stick, then saving that to the HDD does not show a change on the HDD file status.

Any help would be appreciated.

Don - While rare, I have also had some strange things happen when loading. Sometimes they are caused when a load is cancelled...sometimes they "just happen". Since the HDD is part of the panel/menu system, when we do a reboot we do the following: Shut down the menu, then Power down the Menu/Panel power supply Let it sit for maybe 20 seconds, then bring it back on line While it is coming up... Power down the mainframe Power down the DCU Power Down the internal DMEs After a short wait (maybe 20 sec), we start bringing them back on-line in the same order that we shut them down (maybe just a few seconds between hitting each power switch) At least for me, this process has worked each time - we may have had to repeat the process once or twice before it "took", but it has worked. And while it may be a little late now to suggest this, I always have at least one backup of each show file on a thumb drive...just in case the HDD goes DOA. If things won't load from the thumb drive, then we will know that it's the frame. But I agree with Rick - a call to SONY Support sounds appropriate.

Don, it sounds like you might have either a HDD problem, or perhaps some kind of problem with the CPU in the control panel (actually, the "small frame" as you put it is the CPU and Power Supply for the control panel). I would strongly suggest calling Sony service as this is certainly not a normal occurance for the MVS. RE
