Hi all-

I know you can attach any "real" macro to any other button on the switcher, but I was wondering if there would be a way to attach a "virtual" macro (Macros 73-96) to a button? The usual way of attaching obviously won't work, but it would be nice if the attachments could be out of the way of the real buttons.

Thanks.

OK, I feel like a moron- I guess I should have looked down three threads to get an answer to my question. Who knew someone else would have the exact same question as me that recently?!?! :/

Hi, Not in front of a switcher, but I'm almost certain you can't attach the virtual macros to a panel button. They can be inserted into a timeline, though. So, in that sense, you don't have to tie up macro space on your panel with macros that are only used for timeline inserts. This was helpful before native commands or trigger events (or whatever you want to call them) were developed, but now there's less upside to virtual macros now that native commands are available. The ability to write a macro, insert it into a timeline, then delete the macro pretty much wipes out the need to store a handful of virtual macros. So it seems like the use of the virtual macro would be limited to EXACTLY what you're trying to accomplish. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible. I could be wrong, but I think this question came up a few weeks ago. If you do a search, you may find more complete (and perhaps more correct, and up to date) information. Mike Ser
