OK, here's one of those "I know it can be done but I can't remember exactly how" type questions, and if you don't know the answer it might be fun to try figure it out on the equipment you use.

Simple problem: TRYING TO CREATE A BOUNCING BALL WITH A DME.

What I can't remember is what the motion path settings (continuity, bias e.t.c) need to be in order to make the ball look like it bounces naturally, like it would in the real world.

The challenge is set and the clock is running to see how long it takes for the solution!

Cheers
Brian
Mmmm, thanks for your entry Bob. I'm using a DME 7000 and the Tension, Continuity and Bias range is from -4 to +4. Anyway, I've found that the best settings for a bouncing ball are: All KF's MOTION TYPE = Spline KF 1 & 3: Tension = -.8 Bias = 0 Continuity = 0 KF 2 (where it bounces): Tension = -1 Bias = 0 Continuity = -1 Looks great when combined with the "sphere" effect and a light source plus a shadow generated from the switcher.
Yea, you're right about the numbers - I'm using the 9000 DME's. I forgot that the older DVE's (including the GVG stuff) didn't go plus/minus 100...plus 1 & minus 1 (equating to + & - 100%) were considered the useable maximums. I do remember that above & below the 1 thresholds, the DME 7000 produced some really squirley paths. So -1 on both Tension & Continuity should be about right.

On Grass DVE's: KF #1 & 3 = Tension 100, Continuity 0, Bias 0 (The default for 1st & last keyframes) KF #2 = Tension -100, Continuity -100, Bias 0 On SONY DME's, invert the Continuity to +100
