Just ran into this today and it's stumped the EIC. Working on MMTV 10HDX; Kalypso ver 14? and DVEous. I was having what I thought was an issue with the switcher calling up my DVE effects. As we dug into it, we noticed in the External Devices/Enables menu the status on the dve was changing online to offline and back again, all by itself. We rebooted, changed comm cables between the mainframes, and even disconnected the cable from the dveous mainframe to the control panel. It was still turning on and off. Anybody seen this before?

Also, we switched from CPL to PBUS, no change. I rebuilt 2 effects to use TE's instead of the DVE, and left it in PBUS for the day. However, when I recalled my effects, the dve recalled the correct effect (when it was communicating). I was under the impression that since I had built the show using CPL, that changing to PBUS would require me to rebuild those effects. I soooooo confoooosed.........

I saw this in the GVG test lab about a month ago. I tried several things - just as you have: switcher resets, different cables etc. It finally went away after a reset of the Dveous. I think the CPL board in the Dveous just needed a reset. I'd love to know if anyone else has had the same or similar issues. Did you try a reset of the Dveous? As far as P-bus goes you do have to rebuild your effects if they were built for CPL since it is a totally different method of communication. If you didn't re-build and the effects were recalling then CPL had to be active - unless there was some left-over P-bus information on one of your e-mem levels. There is also an issue with the Dveous when using P-bus: registers 40,41,42,43 will not recall properly ( a different effect will recall). This is a Dveous issue that was never fixed by Accom, Abekas etc., etc.

I had thought of that, but triple checked, and CPL was off. And all cables had been replaced.....

J, Because CPL and Pbus use seperate ports, it's possible to have them both be active. Most likely, when you turned on Pbus, CPL was left on. As for your CPL communication issues, it's probably just a bad cable.
