Quick question: Is rotation possible on the 8000-G key resizers? For example, can I rotate a headshot so that it appears properly in a vertically rotated plasma?

From everything I've read, you are both running V7.0. 7.0 was a version that only worked on the 8000G. There is no 7.0 that runs on any other frame. V7.1, which I am told will be released in a few weeks, is for the 8000A and 8000G and brings them back in sync with each other. V7.1 will allow the following new items: 1. All Resizer items work: Border, Beveled Edge, Mosaic, Defocus. If you tie two resizers together you can also have dropshadow, Defocus & Mosaic with masking, key glow and relief mapping of video. 2. Menu Macros 3. A new mode where you can use the KEY2/4 bus to assign things just like the Utility module (aka Shotbox). This lets you have that row call up macros, shotboxes, utility command, etc. The LCD display above the crosspoints splits to show both the crosspoint and the utility command/memory assigned. This is easily toggled on and off to quickly get back to being able to use the key row as, well... a key row. 4. Frame Memory folders. You can now organize all your frame memories into custom folders, just to make it easier to sort through them. 5. You can now set In and Out points on Frame Memory clips. 6. There is a new RECUE and LOOP command for EVS. There are some others but I can't remember all of them. These are the major ones. Obviously, the Resizer items won't apply to the 8000A but everything else is for the 8000A and the 8000G. If anyone has an 8000A that is at V5.x or lower there is a chance you need a small (i.e. inexpensive) hardware upgrade to run anything V6.0 or above. You should contact Sony to find out if you need the upgrade (as I don't work for Sony please don't ask me as I won't know). Have fun! RE
Are you sure you can add borders on the resizers?.....I see the function on the menu, but it seems to be somthing that is not yet available. Maybe a software upgrade??? Also has anyone tried to add a drop shadow to the resizer?...I didn't see that function. Fyi..... We are in the process of firing up our new 8000G.....So there are going to be plenty of questions being fired off from my direction. I would like to thank everyone in advance. Happy switching
Toronto TD... We'll be firing-up our 8kG this week, most likely on Thursday. What version of software are you running, 7.1? I'm excited to see the new software, and look at some other options as compared to how we're doing things now. Just a thought concerning drop shadow ... rather than add a shadow lke you would through a DME menu, maybe try adding it through the key border menu? I haven't seen it yet, so it's a shot in the dark for me. Good luck, and keep us posted. Matt

Rick, Thanks for the confirmation. We've got more than enough for what we need, just curious about the re-sizer limitations. Thanks again. Mike

Hi... Matt is correct. the 2D resizers only do X-Y and Size. No rotation or perspective. They also do Aspect, Mosaic, Defocus, Shadow, Border and Beveled Edge. You'd use the floating 3D channels for Rotation, perspective, Warp, etc. RE

That's kind of what I figured. No big deal. Thanks for the feedback. Mike

Our 8kG should get powered-up early next week, so I'm only 90% sure when I write that the resizers give you X, Y and some Z positioning, as well as aspect capability. I don't think that rotation is part of the functionality right now. What I'm thinking is that the resizers could handle my double boxes, and would free-up the DME for things like rotating images for the vertical plasma set-up. Matt

Mike, I think the answer is no, it can't do any 3D stuff. But I didn't see it since April :) someone else should know definitly
