Hey guys, question for ya... ME/2 on my board isn't putting anything out onscreen but black... on the board the emems seem to recall as keys turn on and cameras switch, even tallies turn on when they're hot, but all I get is black on my monitors... Any ideas?? I've rebooted and nothing...

Thanks!

So the ME2 problem continues intermittently, I noticed it over the weekend, ME2 wasn't hot, but out of the corner of my eye I noticed the monitor for ME2 flash pink then go black (even though there was something punched up on ME2) I reloaded an EMEM and it came back... Going to swap out the boards to see if the problem follows, will let you know how it goes...

Got it... Found which output needs to be program and it's now written... Now for the process of creating a spreadsheet for all the inputs outputs devices... This should be fun! Well I'm not quite a rookie, at it for 2 years, but in an environment where TD's stay away from eng setups, etc.. Everyone uses the same profile (though most shows are very similar) and there's only 3 tds. Glad I came across this problem though, I'm trying to learn everything about the board so we can break the habit of going to our engineering department when it's an issue that we as users should be able to fix. And the "God book"? I asked about it and yeah I think our facility was overlooked by divinity... Don't have one!

Do you have a digital router? Is the control room digital and the rest of the plant analog? You may have either a sick distribution amp or sick router. As BigO said, your maintenance department SHOULD NOT get a Christmas bonus this year. Your facility should have what some remote trucks companies call a "God Book". Basically documentation about every input, output, etc in the facility. You should be able to look in the book and find out what each and every DA does and where each output of that DA goes.

Reload your engineering file. If you don't have one, check the physical cable that feeds your master control. It will be connected to an output number JXX on the back of the Kalypso frame. Then go to the Eng/Outputs menu (EIC login required) and make that output program. You'll have to do this for every output. Gone are the days of fixed switcher outputs, now everything can be anything and you have to configure your virtual settings. Once you get it all figured out slap whoever was screwing around with something they shouldn't be. Then slap yourself for A. Not having an engineering file, B. Not having a spreadsheet of all your inputs, outputs and devices, C. Not knowing how to fix this (unless you're a rookie then you get a pass). Oh, and feel free to slap your maintenance department for above reasons too.

Hard rebooted again today and me2 is back... Though now my I seem to have an output problem from program... (by the way this is a 4 M/E Kalypso) On my program/preset monitors everything looks normal, but my board is not outputting to master control or to digital sources such as Thunder DDR or Lightning where I capture video and stills... I'm not completely familiar with the ins and outs of the board, but what I have as a temporary fix is routing pgm/pst into Aux 1 which now gives master and my digital equipment the board's program signal. From my limited knowledge I feel like it's a problem with my output settings in the ENG Setup menu, but how do I figure out which output this is? There's not much documentation on the mapping of this place from before I got here... Thanks for your help, hope this made sense :)

In otherwords, do you see it on your ME2 crosspoint, and just not in the monitors dedicated to that ME? Another thought ... my last station had an old Sony DVS-8000 (circa 1992), and we used to lose outputs CONSTANTLY. Each time, it was simply a chip that gave up. This happened on outputs feeding monitors, DME channels, basically anything that needed a component digital output. Like Mike said, swapping the ME2 card with another ME should get you a little closer to an answer. Matt

What switcher? Have tried swapping ME boards to see if the problem follows the board currently in ME2? Is the output real black or just lack of signal? (Have you looked on a scope?)
