Has anyone seen the commercial for SONY HDTV's? It's the one with a very well known football player talking about how "professionals" use SONY equipment to broadcast to the viewers, so the viewers should have what the broadcasters use. They walk around a sporting event where cameras & such are shown, then they walk into the truck (NEP) and show the control room with a GVG KALYPSO switcher! I bet if you look closely, the monitors & cameras aren't SONY either. Just wondering how many others noticed that too.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to comment on it... I was watching a game with some friends, and noticed it right away... I was laughing out loud... They all looked at me funny... (what else is new?) -S

I didn't think twice about the switcher until I read this thread. The next time I saw the spot I couldn't help but laugh.

I've heard about that commercial - I have also heard that it has a number of people from a certain corporation rather upset. Apparently the justification from the Ad Agency is that the products being pushed are consumer-oriented, and the average consumer wouldn't know a switcher from a washing machine, so the actual brand of the switcher isn't important. But you're right in that it's a real rookie mistake from the Ad Agency - those who are in the industry will be very quick to see the mistake - those who aren't in the industry will be looking at the footbal player.
