I need to do a feed in the near future on the kalypso where they don't want any keys. I tried today to get a PCF out of the switcher (All ME's), it was fine per ME but once I went up the ME's the PGM B output would have those keys. I know this is probably a simple answer but I couldn't quite figure it out.

I don't think you even needed to bother with splitting ME 3 and doing the bus linking, unless you needed to do a substituition. Could have just taken ME 3b (clean), and dissolve to ME 2 A or Me 2 B, on PPB like you did.

Ok, I got a little more info today. Dan, I did think of bus linking but you are right they do want the dissolves etc. the client wants dirty of course. the second feed is no keys at all there is a fast forward effect, bug, CG1 and CG2, and a tez/bump animation that they don't want. all this will possible have cameras cutting or dissolving under They do want full screen graphics/boxes/ splits. My intial thought was to clean PP B of the bug and fast forward and CG!/CG2, the bkg would ME3 clean. that way I can cut on me3 and font etc. replay to ME2. (me2 is already clean). after thinking about it a little more here is what I come up with so far, What do you think? ME3 is in split mode, no keys on the B output. ME3a and ME3b is linked source to source. PP is set in split A side is set to transition from ME 3a to Me2 a PP b is set to transition from ME3b to Me2a (I can solve the dissolve issue by transitioning on the PRI and SEc sides) I think that will work however I won't see the switcher until tonight sometime to try it. (UPDATE) Here is what I plan on doing (tried it tonight) ME 3 bus linked all sources on to one set in split mode No keys set on side B. PP bus linked all sources ME3 = ME3B set in split mode No keys set on side B. PPB now is clean of all keys as client requested. I can do dissolves on ME3 or Program and have them included in clean output. Thanks again guys for the ideas greg

Greg, I use bus linking all the time, it works perfectly (Sony & Kayak work too), I always have it set up just in case, and it's simple. The only problem with this method is that when you dissolve or wipe on P/P, all you get in the Clean Feed is a cut, if you need the dissolve, we're talking serious programming... Go into the Bus liking menu (in the Suite or User prefs, I always forget which), assign the master bus as P/P A bus, and link that to an Aux, say Aux 6. Now press any Xpoint on the Program bus of the switcher, and Aux 6 will follow. When you press ME1, it will also select ME1, we need to change that to ME1 B. In that same Bus Link menu, on the left side there are all the available sources, scroll all the way down to ME1, then on the right side select ME1 B (or if you have some other clean feed working in another ME output, C, or D, use that). Do the same for ME2 & ME3. Now on the program bus hit the ME1 XPoint and now in Aux 6 you should see ME1 B, same with ME2 & ME3. I actually usually leave ME1 alone, cause most of the stuff I'll be doing, split screen, roll-out effect, 2-box, etc., it's usually OK for those graphics to hit the clean feed, but ask before you do that. This gets you a nitty gritty clean feed, it can be more involved depending on what exactly you really need all the time to that clean feed. No time lines needed at all, which can get VERY complicated. Hope that is what you were looking for. --- Dan

Greg, PGM/PST B, IF you set it up with no keys would have any ME keys in it. In your upcoming show, how do they want you to get to the replay? If a cut or BKGD flash is OK, then use an Aux with the B side of the ME's with a simple cut to the BKGD for say five seconds. You also could try bus linking.
