Hi all,

I will be using EVS spotbox with Kalypso for the first time and I have a few questions.

We will have some clips to transfer from tape (HD) to the spotbox. Can the tape op do it by himself or do I have to help him in a certain way?

Once the clips are in the spotbox, how do I recall them? Is it with PBUS/Lance?

Can I recall a loop?

Thanks in advance,

JP
Seth, I am in the same boat here and have a few aditional questions If they lay them in as a single strip is it continous timecode. If they put them in as individual clips do they have to be put in "on a certain clip event or number" so they will match the lance/kalypso emems greg
Typically yes, the time code may start at zero or one hour (or whatever you ask them to do). Then continue on as long as the clip runs. They can be assigned whatevr clip # they want. The lance when in clip mode will find the clip. I believe there is a menu to turn on clip recall, and then hit clip list, dial till you find the clip, and hit set. The lance will find whatever clips are on that server. If you do direct machine control through the switcher with clips, then the protocols in switcher and spot box need to match. Odetics, Louth, etc. Same thing switcher will find whatever clips are on the server. I find this to be the easiest way to work. But as mentioned in a truck setup there is usually not enough time in a one day setup to do much more then one long clip.
We will have some clips to transfer from tape (HD) to the spotbox. Can the tape op do it by himself or do I have to help him in a certain way?
Most trucks are configured for all 4 channels to be outputs. The tape op can handle the transfer. They will need to know what clip number(s) you want to use. Also, they can either put your elements in as a single rip, or as individual clips. If time is an issue, and this is not a continuing show, you will make the tape op happier if you let them do the single rip. The exception is for any background and/or cycle that may be running continuous. If you have an output channel that you will be dedicating, the clip should be independent.
Once the clips are in the spotbox, how do I recall them? Is it with PBUS/Lance?
Typically yes.
Can I recall a loop?
Yes, via the Lance. If you have a loopable clip, you can also recall and activate it via the spotbox VGA screen.
