Embedded Audio in FM clips

Hi,

I'm trying to make some transistions effects with clips from the frame memory. As I have read somewhere, and are under the impression that you can have emedded audio stored in FM clips, I am trying to get it to work. It doesn't though...

I've set the input and output to trough mode, routed an embedded signal to the mixer, and assigned it to the FM bus and last - started to record a clip. Everything works but the audio.

Any thoughts anyone?

Martin

How about input? Right now the FM input is internal to the switcher right?
I would assume that this is why it would probably use imbedded audio - there's no AES/EBU input on the frame.
Oh ok wasn't thinking that one through... ok that makes sense for input, but I guess for output you need to use an out and send your FM there.

How would this work. Would you need to assign a FM output to a switcher output? Would be 4 de-embedders for each pair, would get annoying. Be nice if you can send one FM output that would pass all the outputs if there is sound on them. How about input? Right now the FM input is internal to the switcher right?

Ok, but what about the MVS-8000A then? Are there hardware issues here, or will a software upgrade do the trick?

Hello, Audio embedded is not possible and it won't in dvs 9000. And for mvs 8000g it will appear in the next version of software next year. Regards, Enric

Rick, I wonder if there is an out of work, former Sony exec, who decided to use the original frame knowing that the engineers had something better coming... Or maybe they decided not to put the needed hardware in that frame because "no one will want this.." The big hassle has been that the DDR has been burping and having more FM capability would help. Having sound would be great. As I said, great switcher, just miss some of the upgrades.

In all fairness to Sony (and no, I don't work for them)..... they had a couple of choices.... stay with a frame that couldn't support any more features and just sit back or move on. TGV did this when they made Kalypso Duo. there are several things that you must have the new switcher to use. Let's give credit where credit is due, though..... At least Sony didn't start over an make a whole new switcher. They only changed the frame. the panel stayed the same. When they came out with the 8000A, nearly every feature that was on the 8000A still worked on the 8000. And they kept updating software for the 8000 until all the things they were adding just would no longer work any more. I know it's frustrating to have something that's a little older, but technology changes. Many times, there's just no way to make everyone happy and still remain in business. RE
I have heard that is in the version that's coming around NAB
Rick, let me guess, not supported on the original 8000 frame, right?? Oh, wait, that frame can only handle 58 frames in 1080i. Great switcher, hate that frame. (Sony's answer, buy a new frame.) Martin, nice looking OB units.
