Need "MPS2" truck info...

just got a call for a show on the "MPS2" truck.
I've never worked on it before, but I've been told that it has a GVG 3K onboard.
No idea about FF, DVE, etc...
Does anyone have anymore info on it? A web link to specs?
Anything is helpful.
A 3k isn't too bad. It's like a dumbed-down kalypso. I ran into one a few months ago (after I was told there would be a Kalypso on board) and I had it set up in about the same amount of time.
yeah, the 3K/4K is wonderfully simple. though I still hit a few snags here and there. it ranks 2nd on my list of switchers (behind the Kayak and ahead of the Kalypso... but as I get more time behind it, I expect the Kalypso to leap frog the 3K/4K.)

The Truck isn't bad, and the EIC is a great guy. Watch out for the Switcher Panel Power Switch (unless it has been moved) it sat right by my knee. Also, had to restart the FF a couple times to get things built. Other than that, everything worked great. I have a couple pictures of the TD Area if you want them.

I'm in the same boat. I totally skipped the 3k and 4k era. It is like mongo stated. the shows I have done on the 3 and 4 were kinda simple so I had alot of play time. It isn't bad at all, like some once put it to me "the kalypso is a 4k on steroids" It does take a little thinking only having two keyers per me and no macros but it is a good switcher. greg

thanks Greg. I've been doing Kayak/Kalpso shows and have little experience with the 3k so I've a little wary of taking the gig for the very reason Lou mentioned. Guess I'll have to find out how involved the show is.

I was on this truck about 6 weeks ago... FF/lance was on it and working fine. If I remember the DVE was an older A-53. Also had a A-42 still store. I only used it in pre-pro so I don't know how it was interfaced with the switcher. You are right it is a 3000. Everything was fine. Eric wasn't there but the EIC was great to work with and a big help.
Thanks for the reply Lou. So w/o the FF did you use the Deveous for your replay move?
At the time I think it was an A-53.

Last time I did a show in it the FFV was not working. If I recall the DVEous is not the typical Dual Twin. Though most people renting the truck don't expect a whole bunch of DVEous effects anyway. It is what it is, it's a decent truck for it's size, and equipment compliment. Don't expect to be doing NFL "A" games out of it. Though we all know sports broadcasters try to push trucks to the max.
