I have an effect that I built that uses ME 2 & ME 3:

ME 3, Key 1 has a DME generated "multi-pic" film-strip looking series of boxes that scrolls vertically on the screen that infinitely loops.
ME 3, Key 2 has a Resizer box that uses M/E 2 as an input.

ME 2 has a 2 channel DME "cube turn" that I want to use in the box. This is just using the DME transition feature.

Here's the trouble ... whenever I transition in ME 2, I get video feedback in the resizer box in ME 3 (only during the transition). Using a switcher wipe or dissolve, it is OK, it's just when I use the DME transition that I get feedback.

Is this supposed to happen, or did I find something for the engineers to check-out? Running SWR & DME 7.10, and Panel 7.11

Thanks...
Matt

Bob, Michelle & Bill... Thank you for the ideas and the thought you guys put into this for me! I wasn't able to solve the problem on my own, but strangely, the problem went away after we powered-down our system at the beginning of the week. As much as I try to duplicate what I was seeing, it just won't come back now. We've been doing a lot with changing wiring, and putting all of the tech areas on UPS, so something strange may have taken hold of the system, and just showed itself when I was trying to build this effect. I did communicate with Stacy Rothwell at Sony about this, too. He didn't have our exact configuration, but was able to try what I described on a 2.5 ME MVS-8000A, with an MVE-8000A, all running 7.20 software. Fortunately, he was not able to reproduce the problem, so at least I know that it was only a problem in our building. Thanks again, guys. I appreciate the help... Matt

There are 2 other things that you may want to look at: Is your DME Internal or External (the External ones are SDI and work off of the AUX buses while the Internal ones work off of the keyers but can be programmed to show up on the AUX panel)? If yours is External, take a close look at the AUX bus & what's feeding your cube channels. By using AUXes, it's a lot easier to get into a feedback loop where the channels of DME on 1 channel can be looking at another M/E that's looking back at the original M/E. And secondly, take at look at the FAR side inputs of the DME - Cube effects can use a front/back input switching, and as the cube turns, the source can switch from front to back inputs. So even if your front input looks correct, maybe the back side (which could be the current on-air source) is looking at the M/E that's causing feedback. I believe that you hold down the AUX bus assignment button to look at the back side input.

Hi Matt Could you possibly have the wind effect or some other "enhancement" on in the DME settings. Michelle

Thanks, Bill ... I checked it out, and I'm only using a 2-channel cube-turn in ME-2, with FM-5 as my Utility-2 BKGD. It's got me scratching my head. I'm gonna try to duplicate this tonight using different combinations of ME's to see if I can make the problem go away, or if it is consistent.

One place to look is the utility bus on ME 2. If you are using a cube, I think one of the utility buses is your 'bgd' under the cube. Is it a 2 ch or 3 ch cube. Same thing if it is a 3 ch, the 3rd source could be ME 3 possibly?
