Hi Guys,

We'll be using a HD Spotbox with Kalypso in Beijing and I have a thousand questions which I would very much appreciate some help on. So that I don't take up too much of your time I've narrowed it down to 4 questions!

1) What's quicker; Import .tga sequences through Xfile or ingest and clip content in real time from HDCAM? Anyone had any experience with HD resolution files and how quick the import is, I've heard it's no quicker than real time ingest off tape.

2) How efficient (or is it even possible) to do a point to point loop? What I mean by that is I have a graphic with a 5 second head to resolve on screen followed by a 10second loopable tail. Is this possible.

3) What's the best way to configure; Spotbox controlled directly from machine control on the mixer, or mixer to control Lance to control the Spotbox?

4) I am informed that we'll have a 6 channel Spotbox and the plan is to configure it 4 out, 2 in. Can I use the Lance to control the record channels?

Your input would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Brian

Brian: I see that you have posted in a couple of places, but haven't received any response. I hope this helps . . . [Perhaps a feature of XFile(2) ?] Once you have ingested/clipped material into the spotbox, future reloads are quicker via XFile.
2) How efficient (or is it even possible) to do a point to point loop?
3) What's the best way to configure; Spotbox controlled directly from machine control on the mixer, or mixer to control Lance to control the Spotbox?
Everyone has their own preference. I prefer to use the Lance. I don't know if you can do your point-to-point loop via machine control. Are you going to be recording on the Spotbox during the shows? If not, do you need 2 input channels? You might want to look at what you are going to use the Spotbox for, and push for 5-1 or 6-0. (In 6-0, you load content via other EVS on the network). If you have any need for looping backgrounds or cycles, the extra outputs can be a real plus.
