I read the article about golfers, and I thought it would be interesting to see what other TD's carry into a truck...

So I'm looking at this thread on "What's in your bag?" and I happen to glance up at the 2 Google ads at the top of this page: "OH Concealed Carry Class - Training for concealed carry in Ohio, only $70. Get your license!" "Concealed Gun Training - In Four Days Of Focused Training, Youll Be Fast & Accurate With A Gun" Apparently, Google was once a TD... - Kim

though im relatively new to professional TD work, I usually bring multi-colored fine point sharpies to label and color-code buttons. it comes in handy when you start punching alot of emems or macros. also bring different thickness of paper tape, cuz you never know the size you may need. that and i like to label everything.

I do mostly studio work, but when I do get on the road, I carry a small 3 ring binder w/ a paper copy of a lance manual, and a few other manual. Makes it real easy to reference that command or setting if needed. Also gives a place to put itinerary for travel, maps of the site I am going to, stage plan for camera and monitor placement etc...all in one place. This way I don't end up w/ pockets full of folded up paper...which usually happens anyway. When I check a bag, I have one of those multi tool pouches w/ a leatherman type tool, small screwdrivers, also a flashlight, etc. I usually have disks etc for the switcher I am working on as well. -Curt

Don't forget your USB stick, plus the backup. I would add a small Swiss Army knife that has scissors on it. Great for cutting labels, especially when using the 1/2 inch white tape. Also aspirin, Tums, and double-ended Sharpies (with the regular and fine points).

I need to go get one of those plastic sleeves...I usually just tie it to my belt and by the end of the night it is a folded mess. I am not interested in unfolding my credentials for the angry security guard. Anywho, thanks for the love John, I figured this thread could help a new TD figure out what they should have...and give us something other than switchers, and "how to's" to BS about. If golfers can do it why cant we? Joel

Greg, for me that is an automatic item, and one I forgot to list. Three of the four teams I do on a regular basis issue hard season passes that come with another basic lanyard. Never have to worry about a dirty pass holder that way.

In case you are wondering what happened to Anonymous Coward, he went away. As you all know, most of use here use our real names and we strongly encourage it. I respect that some might not agree and I'm not always on top of new users, we do try to be honest and up front here (perhaps sometimes TOO honest!). Enjoy, John
Sharpies, white tape, monitor wall labels, bottle of water, index cards, umbrella, gloves, small notebook(paper, not computer), laptop computer sometimes and a sweater, for when it's 90 outside but the truck is 50.
I carry the same stuff that Mike does, with the addition of a granola bar or two, and a tin of Altoids. ;-) That makes me think, a universal charger for my laptop and cell phone wouldn't be a bad idea for that bag of tricks, either!
even for a td forum, this has got to be the stupidest, nerdiest, most useless, uninformative and most embarrassing thread ever
How do you really feel? I think a new TD could gain a lot from this. What should they have?
