Questions - Evertz MVP & Desktop Control Panel

Calling all Evertz experts!

I have two main questions for you...

#1 Anyone know how to program the "multi-purpose buttons" on the 3000DCP control panel? I understand you can build "salvo recalls" to change multiple monitors at once. Are the Global Presets used here somehow? Is there a special script formula you use, like saving the single display presets? Also, any other useful functions that can be triggered with these buttons?

#2 We often have problems with the 3000DCP losing connection & displaying "No Clients Connected" if we make any layout recalls via the Maestro program itself. In order to get control back to the 3000DCP, we have to reboot the 3000MVP server. There are also fairly often lockups with the System Manager and/or Maestro programs which also require a reboot of the server. Our engineers have yet to find answers as to why this happens. So, have any of you encountered this and found a solution?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

~Chris

UPDATE! I was able to speak with Evertz customer support and I have an answer. In order to program the seven multi-purpose buttons, you need to contact Evertz. They will write a special script file for you to upload to your MVP server which will provide whatever functionality you desire to those buttons. So, in the case of a "salvo" recall of multiple monitors... you would just tell them that on the first button I want the following recalls: d01-p01, d02-p01, d03-p08, etc. Likewise, for any of the other buttons. Then, they will create a script file that will then make those multiple recalls happen once that single button is pressed. Their customer support said they could provide the uncompressed file for us to attempt to write the script ourselves, but they strongly suggested it was best that they do it for us. It won't cost us anything, so should be a fairly painless process.

Thanks, Al, but the process you're outlining -- saving script presets -- is something I already know how to do and I've already explained that fact in this thread...
I know how to program the single monitor presets.
The question I have is...
how to program the "multi-purpose buttons"... those 7 blank buttons... [to] build "salvo recalls" to change multiple monitors at once.
The point of this is to be able to recall presets to multiple or all twelve monitors by pressing a single button, instead of selecting presets for each monitor separately. As it mentions in the MVP User Guide under the entry for the 3000DCP, "Multi-purpose buttons allow the user to program specific functions in the the DCP, functions like salvo recalls of entire walls or 'emergency' display fail over conditions." This is what I'm not sure how to do & what I'm asking for help with.

The top row of buttons is for each display. So button 1 is monitor 1... button 2 is monitor 2... button 3 is monitor 3 and so on. After you build your wall save it then save as script (format is D01-p01), D=Display, 01=Monitor 1, p=Preset, 01=Button and it could be what ever button you would like I believe there are 20 presets for each monitor, Once a scrript is saved upload it, and it is ready to call up by simply pressing the correct button At my station we change presets for each show, it is very handy to be able to change configurations depending on what we are doing

once you build a wall you have to save it like any other Windows program by giving it a name...then you save it as a script, the scripts are the preset numbers 1-6 then shift 1-6

Well, AJR, the 3000DCP is configured & does work albeit with those occassional losses of connection. I know how to program the single monitor presets. The question is mainly about how to program those 7 blank buttons which are the "multi-purpose buttons."

I was having a similar problem a couple weeks ago. We have a 3000DCP shotbox in each of our control rooms but they were never configured. I finally emailed Evertz and they sent me the manual. I started flipping through it and found what I thought I needed to know. When I went to go actually poke around and try to configure it, I realized, "I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm gonna screw stuff up real bad real fast." Long story short, after several emails went out from myself and some of the other TD's, engineering got it working.

Hey Matt! Looks like we're in the same boat then. Hmm. I'm sort of surprised there aren't more folks here that might know. I'm more surprised at the lack of info from Evertz though. It seems crazy that their documentation is so lacking on functionality that they claim is available in their products! I recently asked them for a more current version of the MVP software manual and they told me they didn't have one. Huh? Crazy.
how many displays is Meastro controlling?
For us it's 12.

Chris... I'm seeing exactly the same thing here in Orlando. Just last week, I was asking our engineers if we had any documentation on programming the 3000DCP ... the answer was "no", and they went on to tell me that when Evertz was in to install our first configuration in Master Control, they didn't even address the 3000DCP, suggesting that they'd come back to it later. I have the whole PC application for Maestro right next to me at the switcher, but the shotbox would be a better way for the less knowledgeable guys. After almost 9 months of looking at "no clients connected", I started to dive into our Evertz stuff. I found that the IP address of the DCP didn't match what the program had, so after redefining that and rebooting, I'm right where you are ... wondering how to program the quick selects on the shotbox. If you find any info, please let me know! Matt
