I have a Synergy 1 switcher and am having a hard time connecting / controlling my Alcorn McBride DVM2 mpeg player. been properly configured following the inst manuals. The mpeg player has also been configured to talk to the switcher. The screen flashes "VTR TIMEOUT", any help would be appreciated!

In the communications menu under Beta Cam I found a Target Device in the extra options list that Says DVM2 try to set it to that. if all else fails check the cable pinouts. Les

Sorry for taking so long at getting back, I have been on the road. It uses betacam protocol. I will try your advice and let you know, thanks for your help.

Problems like this are 99% of the time caused by faulty cables or incorrect pinouts.. Go to the panel diagnostics menu and choose TX/RX test. From that menu you can Monitor the port that your mpeg player is attached to and see if you are receiving any data from it.. Choose the correct port, turn off the 'freeze' option in the menu then go back to the VTR control menu so that the synergy will try to talk to the device.. Then return to the monitoring menu and see if any data was received. If not, you have a cabling/pinout problem or a configuration issue. Ross tech support is also very good at helping you with issues like this.. You can find the number on their website. I've never heard of the mpeg player you have.. Does it use betacam or louth/VDCP protocol?
