HyperX2 - Lyric Pro Questions

I was wondering if anyone has HyperX2 - Lyric Pro experience that could help answer some questions about the benefits of playing different types of animations from either the canvas or external efx player.......

Thanks in advance!

---------------------
My question is with looping movies, both .avi and .mov

I click on the import movie and navigate to the file and select loop and add to timeline.

The movie file is added to the timeline with a length of 5sec. When I cntrl+play the message to air the movie plays but it does not loop...it stops after 5 seconds.

I have tried different movie settings such as play to end etc.....

The only thing I can get to work is if in the timeline I click on the movie bar - then under transition properties choose loop.

This works for pure loops - if it is a 3 point loop however this method doesn't work - the loop starts over from the beginning. I got the three point loop to work when in the movie properties loop and ignore pauses is checked.

Am I doing this correctly, or is there something I am missing????

also

I was wondering if somone could give me a quick overview of the ability to play animations / movie files out of Lyric Pro with a HyperX system.

The benefits of playing movies from the canvas vs from the clip player etc...

I was under the impression that movies that would need to be manipulated via a timeline, usually lower thirds, non fullscreen elements, should be played from the internal clip player via the timeline - .avi and .mov files......and that fullscreens that do not change should be played from the EFX clip player option.

However in our initial experiences we have found that if we use the efx clip player to play one fullscreen animation out FB1 and another out of FB2 that the animation stutters to an unacceptable level.

Yet from the canvas and internal clip player I have played a lower third animation, OTS animation, and a fullscreen animation all out of FB1 and the same set-up out of FB2 without any noticeable stutters. With the increased flexibility of timeline control it appears that playing movies out of the efx clip is just more of a hassle????
Bill: Hi - just found out some information about the EFX clips and stuttering. Was told to check 2 things 1) Make sure the .ltv clip file resides on a separate Clip Hard Drive - ours is J: (Clips) 2) Make sure the .ltv file is compressed - SD should be Fill: 60/mbs Alpha: 30/mbs HD Fill: 120/mbs Alpha: 60/mbs After I made these adjustments we are now able to play clips in both frame buffers from the EFX clip player without any stuttering. -Clint
Clint, thanks for the info, I will pass it on to someone who works on the machine. later

J.J. - thanks for getting back to me - we are in the initial set-up stages so I'm just trying to think the differences through. That all makes sense. Ironically, I am currently seeing better performance from the internal clip player playing .avi files than the efx board - as mentioned with the stuttering problem. I will try to contact chyron and check some of the settings. Thanks, Clint

One solution you could try for looping .mov files in a Lyric message is to simply extend the timeline. If you right click and extend it to a very long amount of time, the entire file should loop for that duration. This will play the entire movie though. If you want only a certain part of the particular movie to loop, I think it's easiest to set the loop animation within the properties menu. You can designate a frame to loop the movie back at. I think you can also designate a specific loop point when using an .avi in the clip player as well. You're correct about playing movies within a message vs from the clip player. I'm not sure why you'd have a stuttering issue when playing two separate clips out of two different frame buffers - Maybe check your Duet Hardware settings. Typically, large graphics like full screen backgrounds should be played through the efx panel because the risk of stream errors is significantly reduced and the image resolution is of higher quality.
