Hey Guys,

I am trying to control a countdown Timer via a transition timeline and I am not having any success.

We are having a debate and want a countdown timer that would display on a monitor and would trigger different lights at different times - ex. red light for :15 seconds remaining etc....

I understand the GPI outputs as events in a transition; however I am having difficulty controlling the countdown timer via a transition/timeline.....I thought of using macros but I have not been succesful with that either [I found a macro but it starts the countdown on the canvas not on the live output]

I was hoping to have a transition timeline that would
start the countdown
trigger gpis along the way
reset the countdown at the end
[then that transition could just be triggered again at the end]

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Clint

Thanks for all the help. I didn't think of putting multiple clocks on the canvas and using the 0 function - I was trying to do it as GPI outs on a timelie the synched with the start of the clock. Looks like from a user standpoint your option looks best! Thanks again for the thoughts/help! -Clint

Well you can replace where I said to setup GPI triggers on the chyron for keyboard shortcuts if you like. The process is the same the Set Key/GPI lets you set keyboard shortcuts or GPI triggers. Or the op could just use the mouse. If your going to have someone watching the clock it would probably be easier to get them to just manually operate the lights when the clock gets to certain points.

Hosko, Thanks for the reply and the info..... We were actually going to have a CG operator or "timer op" so the TD wouldn't have to worry about operating the timer etc..... so I was hoping to avoid sending GPI ins to the HyperX to operate the clocks. I was trying to be able to do everything from the playout panel..... if you have any suggestions on getting things done this way that would be great - otherwise we may go the GPI in route to control the HyperX We do have lyric pro - I believe version 6.5 Thanks again for all the help! -Clint

Depending on which version of Lyric Pro you can you can let the HyperX take care of all the timing functions/gpi triggers for the lights and just build two macros for starting the clock and resetting the clock/lights In LyricPro you would place two countdown timers onto a page. Say counting down from 3mins and the other 2mins 45sec if you don't want this to be seen on screen change the transparency of the second clock to 100 so its invisible. You would then go to the Clock/Timer properties and in the section which is labelled "Operate Clock/Timer" in the drop down select "Set Key/GPI" and press select. Her you want to select under timer - "All timers" and under action - "start" then under GPI select what ever GPI in on the chyron you want to use to start the clock. Hit ok. You'll then want to do the exact same thing except this time the event will be "reset" again leave it for "All Timers". Back in the Clock/Timer Properties on the newer version of LyricPro there will be a section called Action as timer expires. For Timer 1, the 3min clock you would hit modify and set what ever GPI out you want to use for the time up light. Then select Timer 2 do the same thing except this time select the GPI out for the warning light. Now on the switcher all you'll have to do is write a simple macro to send the GPI signal to start the clock. Then the Chyron will trigger the the warning light and finally the times up light. Then you'll need a second macro to send a GPI signal to re-set the clocks and a second GPI trigger to re-set the lights.

I have tried something similar once. The switcher was a Kayak DD (2 ME). I made a simple timeline, something like this: wait for user to press the cut key trigger GPO # x pause # frames (actually, in that case, it was "pause until this time of day") trigger GPO # x pause # frames trigger GPO # x and trigger macro (play a clip and then fade to black) and so on. I don't know anything about your timer, in my case it was not a timer but an Evertz MVP configured with a clock on an output. All response to triggers were done directly on it. Hope it helps.
