I was wondering what the multi program feature is. Is that like main and sub ME's? I tried to activate it also in the menu (tried changing p/p from standard into multi program) and it wouldnt let me.. Is there something else i have to turn on before i activate it.. I'm on an 8K A just upgraded to 7.22
Bill, Interesting. I always figured that since outs 5 and 6 showed up as "N/A" when I switched to MP, they weren't available. I never tried assigning stuff to these outs. It's good to know that I can use them. Thanks!
Guessing N/A just stays there when you switch to MP until you assign them
Mike, Multi PGM allows you much more flexibility in customizing your outputs. In Standard mode, you have 4 outputs (PGM, PVW, Clean and Key PVW 1 and they're pretty much fixed. Multi PGM still only gives you 4 outs but you can customize them. Lets say you don't need a clean feed but need to see your background and only key 4 on your output. You can change M/E out 3 (what would be the clean feed) to PGM out 2. -Allan
Allan, the regular multi program allows you to use all 6 of the outs, programmed how you would like. Multi pgm 2 adds the ability to have bgd transitions on the secondary side of the ME. regular multi pgm, you can have keys over utility 2 bus only as a bgd.

Mike ... it's possible that you might not have everything set to use MP-II, as it has to be enabled in 3 menus. I'm using an 8000G running 7.11 software, so we still need to physically loop the sub-outputs back to physical inputs. I believe that 7.2x added the functionality of keeping the sub-ME mapping internal to the switcher, though (you only need these loops if you want to re-enter say ME-3 SUB, to ME-3 MAIN, otherwise it is all internal to the switcher). Here's what you need to do, but as Allan noted, I'm not sure that you can use MP-II on the "A" frame: 7331 (set ME Config to MP-II) 7321.11 (set panel assign to Main & Sub on XPT modules) 7321.12 (assign main/sub functionality to the PRE/POST buttons on your XPT modules) Now, you can customize how you would like each ME to operate ... how your keyers are assigned to each partition, or how each ME handles DME wipes, and so on. I've made all of those changes part of our SET-UP file, and have snapshots that allow me to jump in and out of MP-II mode on each ME. I think that I'm the only TD in my shop that uses MP-II ... I wish the other guys would use it, as it could make their lives SO MUCH EASIER, but I digress. Hope that helps... Matt

You can change M/E out 3 (what would be the clean feed) to PGM out 2. Then you can customize PGM out 2 to only see the BKG and key 4. Multi PGM 2 gives you everything Multi PGM does except you gain an extra 2 outputs (Sub PGM and Sub PVW). The 8k can do Multi PGM but can't do Multi PGM 2 (lack of hardware). I'm not really sure why you can't select it. I'm not sure if it's something extra you have to pay for or what. If you have time, swing by and I can go over it with you. The one issue with MP and MP2 is that while it is customizable, it's not totally customizable. You can't put any PGM out on any M/E output. -Allan
