Hello All,

Our station is upgradeing our server playback to a system that we're told is compatable with VDCP.

It's been a long time since I've set up VDCP... and I've never done it with the Sony 8K-A. Any suggestions or advice on what must needs be done to make it all work?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Scotty

Scotty, There must be a handshake that goes on between the device and the swr. I have seen the same thing. A few things to check..sorry if you have already done this. 1-Menu 7355, you have to set up each port for VDCP...So you will have to find out what physical serial connections you are using on the DCU. 2-Go to that port and assign it a device type..ex..DDR VDCP. Press the "Device type set". You should now see the device type in the device type column for the port you want to assign. 3-Repeat for each connection you have 4- Selecti one of your ports you just assigned 5- Press the "Port Setting" button at the buttom center of the screen. Menu 7355.4 should come up 6- Set the options for your device. Since you are using an inhouse box, you may have to play around. I am using an EVS, and for me, "video port" means what actually channel I am controlling. So..in theory, physical port 1 could control EVS channel 4..etc. One mistake I usually make, push the "set" button after each option, not once you are done. 7- Repeat 4-6 for each port, in your case, the second port. 8-Menu 7325.4, Assign a port to a DEV #. ex..DEV 1 = port XX 9- Repeat for your second device 10- Menu 5333 and see if you can "file list update" for each device...From what I have seen, you may either work, get a connection problem..as in not connected, or your DDR channel will be "polled" for all the clips it has. If you see clips come up, wait for the list to load ( will be longer if there are mult clips) Select a clip, then press "load". The channel should load this clip. If it does..cool..If it doesn't load and gets an error, you will have to play around w/ menu 7355.4 for the port you are having issues with. If the clip load, try to play it. I had an issue where a clip would load, but not play...Had to play around w/ settings to get it to work.. Sorry for the long email... Others please feel free to add/correct any of the above. Hope this helps.. Curt

Hello All, Here's a specific problem I'm having.. I've assigned two of my 10-key regoin buttons to be DEV1 and DEV2... But when I press them they do not light up... Oh... Allan... I'm useing DEV2. As I re-read your response I get what you were asking... I'm fairly certian I can figure out the operation... it's just the set-up that's got me confuzzeled at the momment. S

The only advice I can offer is most devices need a pause between cueing a clip and playing. Setting up VDCP is relatively easy and very easy to operate.
