I'm TDing a game that has an EVS HD maXs - 2 channel server that is spotbox configurable. The truck does not have a lance control. Can anyone tell me how to control this server for playback on a Kalypso. And do I need to map both channels and do a split key. Thanks for any help.

Hello, You can gang the A/B on a setting on the EVS itself. One thing to look out for...the last time/only time I have used this, I was told it will only gang the A/B channel..ie fill/key. If you wanted to call up soemthing from the C/D channel, that would have to be set up on the evs I believe. Something w/ the metadata to let it know to call up D when C is recalled. Worked really well w/ the A/B gang.. A rep from EVS set it up. C/D etc may work by now. Curt

Hello, I don't know exactly how to do it on a Kalypso, but the general procedure is the same for every switcher. The EVS supports several remote control protocol, you can use Odetics (as the DNF would), VDCP or AVSP, the switcher will probably support at least VDCP, which is usually the most common choice. The EVS has also a VDCP F/K mode that (never tried personally) will probably configure coupled channels. From the switcher, do a macro that recalls the clips you like on the channels you like, than cue them on waits for a trigger to put them on play. This is where the TD has several options: create a timeline, use macroes, whatever he likes. It is the same P-Bus trigger procedure you would do with the Lance, just with a different protocol.
