In many different brands of digital video switcher such as Snell, Sony, Thomson and so on, what will be the PGM output expected to be observed if the switcher is selecting the BNC input which is empty [no signal]?
:) Thanks to Mike's reply. For the Sony's, it will be observed the green that exactly the same as Mike said. For the Snell's, it will be observed the snow picture. For the Thomson's, it will be observed the black picture. Do anyone can explain why different result wil be observed in those switchers? Thank you.
I agree on all three. Probably, Thomson thinks a black output is better than snow or green. It's not a bad idea. You also get a blinking button for unsynchronized (or missing) sources. I get snow on Kahuna switchers, maybe it has something to do with their Format Fusion, I can't tell.
I think the common observation between all those mixers if a TD put an input to line which didn't have a physical input is the Director sitting next you about to throw punches at you.
Actually, there should be some GPI connection with the audio booth, since if I try this I get screams and yelling in the PCR.

On Grass boxes I am sure you get a green screen as well. I have sen green on 4k's and Kalypso's when we have lost a DA output. I have not used a Snell since the old units that HDNet used. Maybe Snell has A to D converters in their path to auto convert any source??? As for the DD family, who knows.

IF you had mapped a source that had no valid digital signal then you should see a green screen. The green may not be solid, some break up, due to no reference. If the input had an analog to digital converter on it, you may see good old fashioned snow.
