On ME1, I tried to assign two DMEs to key2, and two more DMEs to key4, with no success. I was able to assign up to four DMEs to one keyer , or two DMEs on one key of ME1 and two DMEs on one key of ME2 but not to different keyers of the same ME.

Is there some kind of restriction that I should know?

It was a 3ME switcher, V7.22

Thank you,

JP
Thank you Rick, If I understand well (I'm new to 8000), there are 4 internal DMEs. Resizer would have been an option but I needed to do a drop shadow on two boxes and the switcher did not allow me to do so. That's why I needed two DMEs per keys. JP
Actually you can do what you want with the resizer(s). Here's the trick..... you can turn a resizer into "Dual Resizer Effect". What that does is borrow the adjacent resizer and combine it for a few effects like dropshadow. Now this won't work if you said you wanted three boxes, but with two it's fine. You'll use Keyer 1 and Keyer 3 for your two boxes. Next turn on DUAL RESZR EFF on for Key 1 and Key 3. Key 1 will now use the resizers from Key 1 and key 2 and Key 3 will use the resizers from Key 3 and Key 4. You can then turn on Drop Shadow on Key 1 and Key 3's resizers. You then have full control, including opacity, softness and size, independant of the video. RE

There are two V/K paths on each M/E for the 3D DMEs. So that means that you can have TWO keyers each with one channel --OR-- a SINGLE keyer with up to 4 channels on it. If you're not needing rotation, I woudl suggest using the resizer. How many channels of 3D DME do you have?
