GVG 3000 W/ SDI - SDI Not Working

Hey Guy's... I have what must seem like a simple issue.I have a GVG 3000 installed and I have 24 Analog Inputs. 12 Parallel Inputs, and 4 SDI Inputs. I want to try to get those SDI inputs working. I have a Deck that outputs SDI, I have confirmed it is putting out SDI because I have a AJA converter. When I plug into the switcher I get the white noise. I tried to adjust the bits from 8 to 10, 10 to 8 and no go, I ran it through a GVG reclocker and it showed it is using the SMPTE 525 @ 270 Mb... What am I doing wrong... Any ideas? Something to check? I'd be nice to get SDI outta the switcher. Thanks for any advice and assistance.
The SDI inputs on the GVG3000 are Composite SDI (143 Mb/s and 177 Mb/s). If you never heard of Composite SDI, I don't blame you. I never did either. It was short lived and now extremely obsolete. Any SDI since the late 90s is going to be Component SDI (270 Mb/s and 360 Mb/s) and your 3000 will not read it, and any gear with Component SDI inputs won't read the 3000's outputs. When we got ours in, I didn't have any real sources handy in the loading bay to test with, so I tested all the ins and outs via loopback. Of course it worked when I was doing that. Found out what was going on the week we tried to plug our Chyron's SDI into it. Ultimately our Engineers had to track down a hard to find box that could downconvert 270/360 down to 143/177. I'll look up the model number of that thing on Monday. So, sorry to tell you, but unless you get some extra gear to convert, your SDI I/O on the 3000 is no good for anything but loopback.
I could swear Abekas built some gear for this format back in the '90's. Also, wasn't the D-2 VTRs using this digital format? If you used D-2 in a digital world, that is.
Just wondering... Could Grass have meant to implement this and not gotten SDI to work in the 3K? I would love to hear the answer on thism SDI in a 3k.
This is on the same bank as the analog composite inputs, the specificially say SDI Inputs. And there are only 4 whereas the composite cards have 8 inputs. There is a SDI loop out on the card as well.On the mainframe the card is different than the analog cards, only showing 4 inputs. There isn't SDI outputs on the mainframe only parallel out.On the controller it specifically gives me 4 Digital SDI inputs, and the option to select between 8 bit or 10 bit. I selected between the two options and it doesn't do anything, not even blink on the input, just digital snow which almost makes it seem as if it is a composite signal.
I apologize, I have never even heard of this. Can't believe it's even in the book, guess it is possible. Curious how it does the conversion to use it in the switcher and output it. I would try calling GVG or wait for one of them to respond here.
The 3K is analog only. Never heard of any way to add SDI inputs. May just have to down convert. Guessing these are 4K inputs that also fit in the 3K frame maybe.
OK, learn something new everyday. I found the PDF manuals for v5.3 and it says that the 3k can handle SDI sources. I have only seen 3k's with analog inputs. Of course, to use SDI sources, you need the SDI input cards. That might be the issue in this case. Maybe the box only outputs SDI if there are SDI output cards in the frame?

Check good'ol EBay for some cards by GVG... the numbers have fallen out of my cranium but they are SMS series cards and labled 143MB to 270mb (and the opposite)
