Hey.

I'm sure this question is easier to answer than to ask, but i cant for the life of me find it.

Im working on a Kayak 2.5 ME. Its using one of the new Kayenne/Kayak sidepanels. How can i activate the control knobs on the right side of the panel. Right now, the only way I can adjust values is my manually typing in numbers to find something close.

I'm sure there is a way to turn them on, probably buried in the install menu (which my engineer has repeatedly "forbidden" be to look through . . . oops.)

yes, the touch screen is working . . .

that is until about 4 days ago. our EIC said that the touchscreen driver suddenly disappeared. apparently all he has to do is reinstall it, and all will be well.

but yes, up until then, it was working.

Ok , here's what you need to do : Close the SP-Program and the Tftp-server (located in the task-bar in the lower right corner. Connect a USB cabel (type A on the PC and type B on SP) to your SP coming from your PC . You'll find the type 'B' connector right next to the power connector on the bottom side of the GUI . As soon as you make this connection you'll here a familiar 'Bill Gates' USB-Connection sound on your PC (if sound card on board and activated). Now make a right-mouse-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" . From here select "Hardware" and than "Device Manager" . Open the first entry which shows your COM & LPT ports . Here you should now see an entry which is labeled like "USB to Serial" (or similar) showing the port number# . Remember this number and close all tasks without changes. Now goto "Start" (in lower right corner) and "Run" - type in "regedit" and 'return' . Now the path you're looking for is : "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BTS\SP\SERIAL" . Here you'll see a "Serial Port" . Doubleclick on it an type in the serial port number you should have remebered and confirm OK . If this is a PC with a main monitor or a Laptop and you want to start the SP-Program always only on your GUI (secondary) display , you can do so when selectig from "SERIAL" to "USERINTERFACE" (in the left tab) and now make a right-mouse-click in the right tab anywhere and select "New > D-WORD" and name it "USE_SECONDARY_DISPLAY" . Doubleclick on the item and set the value to "1" . When you now start your SP-Program it should come up right away on your GUI and also your Digipots should work like a charme . Hope this helps ! Good luck and

Best Regards

Helge

If you're using a mouse with a wheel , you can also click on a value next to a digipot and modify it using the wheel !

another crazy kayak / ram recorder problem for you Helge.

we are using a kayak with the Kayenne XL side panel. it works fine (just installed a new touch screen +/- a week ago.) but it seems like once a month or so, the thumbnails for the stills and clips in the ram recorder just suddenly disappear overnight. reboot the sidepanel and no luck. no way to get them back. we use the ram for our bump/tease animation, as well as full screen monitor graphics and such.

the only way we have found to get them back is to completely reboot the switcher and transfer all of the stills and clips back into the ram recorder (a lengthy process in itself). we really dont want to have to completely reboot the entire system once a month.

any thoughts?
