Setting Up PBUS on Sony 7250

Can anyone help me with some information about setting up a Pinnacle DVExtreme to communicate with a Sony 7250?  I have the 7250 configured to communicate PBUS commands in the time line via DME 4 & 5, but the DVE EXTREME does not respond.

Any and all suggestions are welcome...

The two modes are timeline (P2TL) and trigger.  Trigger mode sends commands to all devices (0-23) and the function of the rewind and run buttons on the KF editor panel are recue and play.  In timeline mode you are able to do recall, store and trigger keyframe by keyframe on the timeline.

After reassigning the region buttons from DME 3&4 to P2TL in the panel port menu, connect the cable to the remote 2 port on the control panel.  This will only work if you have the BKDS-7001 port expansion board installed in the control panel.  As long as you know the ID set in the Pinnacle you can send a test fire trigger to that ID.

In Sony speak, trigger 0 is a recue and trigger 1 is play.

You go into the setup menu and chose panel port. Then you assign DME3/DME4 to PBUS /GPI Timeline.

Then connect your PBUS device to port two on the panel.

When editing keyframes you can insert triggers or register recalls with a menu option  below the display with "shift+F4" (I think it's called P2TL or something). Then when you see that menu, it's pretty straight forward.

Remember you need to have at least version 5 software and the PBUS / VTR option card installed in the panel.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

It has been awhile since I did PBUS on the 7000 series...but I don't remember using PBUS via the DME regions....I think there should be a PBUS region to talk to the DVE.  One thing I do remember...you have to scroll down in the timeline menu ( using the arrows) to see the PBUS ( aka P2TL ) to see the actual timeline...it didn't move it to the top based on what was assigned in the region assign panel.

It has also been a long time since I was on a 7000 series switcher; but along with what Curt was saying, I seem to remember something wierd that SONY does regarding PBus...as I recall you have a menu choice as to whether the PBus will be responding off of the Snapshot regions or off of Timeline Regions.  Try looking for this preference - it may help.
