Splash Panel Confusion (physical buttons called up random menus)  8000a v9.0

Last night we did an all save to usb memory stick and left for the evening.  8 hours later we come in and attempt to load in from the hdd and we couldn't navigate to the file menu using a hard button.  Every physical button on the splash panel was calling up random pages.

We did a soft reboot with no success; we then did a complete power cycle and still had no success.

Our final effort we called up menu 0011 and used the touch screen to navigate to the file page (I suppose menu 7161 would have worked too) and reloaded from a good file.  This worked and we are recovered for now.

The reason for this posting is to ask if anyone else has experienced such issue and what we could do to avoid it from happening again.

Rex from New York Sony has never heard of this before.

Thanks

Dan

Dan, this happened to me when I worked in Orlando.  We were upgrading our 8000G to v8.10, and the same thing happened.  The Sony tech (Andrew Deak) suggested that it was a known issue, and would only happen once (the first time the new software was installed and run).  Unfortunately, the first time I rebooted after Andrew left, it also happened.  After getting a good set-up recalled and all of my buttons realigned, I redefined the set-up and init files under v8.10, and believe that was the fix.  As far as I know, everything boots normally and is still working (I left that station almost a year ago).

Hope that helps,

Matt

Matt,

Thanks for your input.

We have since determined that when we did our 9.0 update it wiped out our defined button mapping and was loading the Sony default just as you had suggested.  Once we redefined and tested a few reboots everything has been working ok.  Thank you.
