Can anyone explain the 2.5 resizers on a MVS7000x? (Also 8000g) Is it just x,y & z axis without spin, rotate function.

Also has anyone used the new 3D software, Dual-link of signals, or any tips on setup/config of 3D productions?

-Cheers

I was interested in this functionality as well, so I posed the question to our Sony Product Manager.

The response indicates that for the X model of switcher (7000X) :

currently on the X switchers, you can rotate on X or Y but not both. Full rotation is being “studied”

And for the G model of switcher (8000G):

My understanding is that the FPGA circuit used on the MVS-8000G MIX board doesn’t have “enough gates remaining

for this function” so it’s unlikely that this will be added to the G in the future.

2.5D means rotation on the X axis OR rotation on the Y axis BUT NOT both at the same time because that would make it 3D. Got it?

You are correct, the resizers are currently capable of X, Y and Z positioning, 'enhanced effects' (defocus and such), and border/crop adjustments.  In the near future, we will see rotation added to the resizer's functionality.

I can't answer your question about 3D, but am sure that one of the other users certainly can.

When is rotation being added? Can't wait for the day when we essentially have DME's on every key.

Hosko - you ask "When is rotation being added? Can't wait for the day when we essentially have DME's on every key." I agree, and I would also ask "why stop there?" Having a DME on every bus (Keyer, Background, Utility, Aux) would be even more flexible - it could completly change the way that we switch our shows, and make our resource management issues a thing of the past. I just question how many customers would be willing to pay the extra $5,000 or so per bus for the luxury of such a cool feature set.
