I run clips, animations and transitions off a GVG PDR 200 Profile from a GVG4000 (via DNF). The guys in my graphics department think that when I key off these clips, the quality of the composite is less than perfect, especially when using chromakey. I have to say that I agree with them. Timing key and fill together is not the problem. This works well with the DNF box.

I'm concerned that I may not have recorded the clips into the profile at the best possible quality. I thought I was recording at the highest quality but I may have missed something. Can anyone suggest how I can ensure that my animations have as little compression in them as possible?

The PDR200 does not appear to be fully loaded with software. There are apps on the "program" menu whose trial license has expired. It is a well worn box having been used constantly for years in various locations.

Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

Thanks Sean, I'll give it a try when I'm next at work. I seem to remember changing similar parameters when I first installed the Profile but not via that menu route.

Robbie, I'm working off a different verison of Profile (older, though...PDR100) with this info but it might be close enough to get you going. 1. Highlight the channel you will use to record (what follows can be done on each channel, see note at end) 2. Along the top menu bar of the Profile, select CONTROLLER 3. From the drop down select CONFIG 4. From the pop up window select PROFILE OPTIONS 5. In the bottom half of the new window select EDIT PRESETS You will probably have at least 4 options you can choose from. On one of them, set the "bits per second' field as high as it will go (150000 on mine). One of the presets is probably labelled "highest quality, least record time" and might be a good one to use for this. Of course, you may want to check with your engineering staff to make sure its ok! Increased quality means decreased space available, obviously. We have ours set so channels A and B record at a lesser quality and C and D record at highest quality for things like news animations.
