Help! Building an EASY effect

Looking for some advice...I'm building a 2-box effect on a Kalypso (easy enough, right?), but here's what I am looking to do:

1. I'd like the effect to recall with 2 primary inputs (say camera 1 and FS 1).
2. Go into a source hold where the TD could change the inputs on the fly.
3. Maintain the source hold for a pull-out on one of the boxes.

Easy enough, or so it would seem. If I build the first KF with a source hold, of course the switcher maintains the inputs already on the key busses. If I add the hold on the second KF, you see the inputs change back to those of the first KF (when you run the effect).

So then I thought, is "Auto Run" a keyframable parameter? If so, I could have the effect recall as I wish, pause at the next KF with a source hold (allowing the TD to change the inputs), and then "run" the effect when they are ready.

What am I missing? Help me see the light!!

Thanks!
Matt

Matt, you don't appear to missing anything. What you suggest would work. Program the Timeline to have a pause on KF2. KF2 onwards have Source Holds. Have [Auto Run] enabled when you recall. It will select your initial sources when you Run, and pause, on KF2 when you can override. What isn't working?

Rich & Tom...thank you for the ideas. I think I'm going to try using a macro...just because we can! As always, it it great having a forum like this to bounce ideas, and to get other perspectives... Thanks for the help! Matt

Actually, it's as simple as putting source holds on your second keyframe (I'm assuming it's the live reporter full-frame?). As long as you don't hit rewind, it SHOULD keep whatever source you punch in the box. This worked for me the last time I was on a Kalypso (v7.2.1 - yeah, it's been a while!), and hopfully it still works. -Tom

Hey Matt, Since this is Kalypso...macros are your friend. I build most of my effects with source hold on... and recall with a macro that selects what will *probably* be the correct source(s). Easy enough to now "change on the fly" if needed. Rich
