Anyone know what switcher NEP is putting in the new ND3? Also is the it truck built for any specific shows?
however the EFFECT stopped. The keyer never cut off and I had JUST tested it in the break before and it worked just fine. Any input? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks TDBeth
Hey Beth Are you using a "run" macro attached to another button to run the effect? I have noticed that intermittently (and unpredictably) using a macro to hit the run button sometimes causes the run button to appear To the switcher) to be hit twice in short succesion thereby stopping the effect in some random place. This would appear to be a glitch in the macro execution software. Only sure way to prevent this is to actually hit the run button yourself. Maybe, instead of having to attach macros to reorganize the panel layout to an individual's style, we could merely reprogram the buttons? (kinda, sorta, almost like on the DD35?) I hope someone's taking notes.
Ever since v12 for the Kalypso came out I've had misfires from the switcher to the Lance. At least once per show the correct clips load however the B channel doesn't fire. This happens on different trucks, different shows, different elements. Thoughts? It's not the Lance it's got to be some kind of communication between the pbus and the Lance. and this one is really strange. Today I did a roll out effect. Trigger the spot box, cut to an ME, keyer cuts off revealing video however the EFFECT stopped. The keyer never cut off and I had JUST tested it in the break before and it worked just fine. Any input? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks TDBeth
Hi Beth, Thanks for the posting, but you should start a new topic for this question. I don't think that you are talking about the NEP ND3 truck specifically, it seems. If you need some help in figuring out to post, just let me know. -John

NEP Posted specs for their new NBC truck online: The production floorplan really mimics CBS' SS-24, and the tape/audio room does the same thing, but flipping tape and audio's layout.
Rumor has it that Geoff Butler is on board to TD this show
I'll drop him an email and ask. I'm not sure how Sunday Night NFL would conflict with his directing obligations.

All I want to know is how does a guy like me in OKC TDing and Directing huge high school games get a shot at moving into some real action, even if it means college games first (which would be great) then into proffesional sports. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I heard a rumor that maybe Joey isn't doing it ... (OK, now I'm gonna have that bubble gum 80's song in my head all day ..."I heard a ruuuumor ..."). Maybe we should ask him! Joey??? Come out, come out where ever you are ... ;-) I know that Wendell Stevens (MNF) is onboard to A1. I also heard that NBC's really trying to do this on the cheap ... not paying some of the techs even close to what they made on MNF ... lots of negotiating going on. Some are reported to have said "No" multiple times before NBC antied up... j

lou, are you sure? i heard the opposite and that it would be an 8k.
I told them that's what I wanted, and as of our meeting last week, that's what they're putting in.
I also have it on very good authority that it's a 8000A, not a Kalypso. It's pretty widespread knowledge that NBC has a contract with Sony to use their switchers everywhere. RE

Waaay back, before 1995 or so, before NEP bought NBC's remote trucks, NBC called their trucks Nx. There was N7, N8, N5, etc... Then NEP took over the trucks for NBC and for a period the "network" trucks were labeled NEP MPS Nx. Eventually as NBC lost some of their shows some of the trucks were converted into "regular" Super Shooter trucks What was N7 was rebuilt and became a regular SS truck and was relabelled SS-3 and NOW is known as SS-2 for some reason. The ND label meant Network Digital when they first used it, as I was told. NHD3 looks too much like NMT's HD3 I guess.

I am new in this business so... Why does NEP call it ND3 instead if the regular Super Shooter? Is it because it is a HD truck?
