Hello, we have a few DVEous here. Guess a week or two ago I noticed one of the machines had some wacky crop and aspect numbers in the menus. When I tried calling up our normal effect or just hitting clear and those soft knobs nothing changed. Crops were at like .1250 all around, etc Pretty weird.
I recalled a setup and all seemed better

I thought maybe someone was playing in the anamorphic menu, but it did say 1.0 and .7500, which I think is normal.

So today we tried saving something (possibly first time since then) From that DVEous, any effect old or new when loaded in another DVEous has wacky crop and aspect values. I believe we are able to clear the values on the new DVEous and resave, but obvious we can't be double building things b/c one room doesn't save correctly.

Oh and now playing on another DVEous in anomorphic menu and I can't get it back to normal at all, setup recalls, etc.
Turns out messing with the anamorphic stuff somehow globaly effected every effect that was saved in the DVEous (0-99). Everything was all off, I ended up loading effects that were saved in the past from disk, and that seemed to clear it up. All of this after a reboot.

Still not sure about the other machine but it seems it may have been similar problems

Any help on this would be appreciated
thanks
Bill

Software and ENG seetings all the same. Both roms have 1.0 and .75 for anamorphic values. Someone definitly messed with it all. Seems like only way to get those effects back to normal is to reload from disk. This seems like an extreme scenario. We often have 80-90 effects all the time. Wwe fixed it all, and eveything is fine, was just thinking of the next time. Besides telling people not to touch (which we have), was hoping for an easier fix. Definitly a bad menu to mess with thanks Bill

The anamorphic menu changes the way the parameters are calculated. For example, if you change the anamorphic setting to 8 horizontal and 6 vertical, your units for crop, border, motion, etc. are represented the same way they are on GVG products like Kalypso, Kaleidoscope or Krystal. The left edge is -4, the right edge is 4, top is 3 and bottom is -3. This makes it easier for me to quickly enter known or estimated values because I learned on a Kaledioscope and I'm used to that numbering convention. When you change the anamorphic settings, DVeous will automatically recalculate all the effects in the registers and the new values will appear without changing the look of your effect, although in the past I've noticed that sometimes it is not exact, so instead of a value of 4 it may come up with 3.9998. Some tweaking may be required, but if you change it and you get these results and you want to go back, I would first change the anamorphic menu to 1 and 0.75 and then reload all the effects in case on the way back things are still slightly off. This also works if you work in 16x9 space and you want the values to appear as -32/32 and -18/18.

Are you running the same version of software on both your DVEs? What about the eng setup, is it the same for both? If someone changes the anamorph on those buttons in the upper right corner you'll have problems. If your place is like ours and anyone can touch the machines I usually say whatever you do don't touch these buttons. The next thing to check in your border crop settings do they use the same lingo. I have seen some that use .5000 and some that use 3.000 x 4.000. Let me know. Also check those anamorph settings in both rooms does one use 3.000 x 4.000 and the other 1.000 x 1.750

Yes all channels, I don't know what messed it up, but we had the effects saved on another DVEous, we bought them all over. Seems like the anamorphic changes the entire workspace, for good. Bill
This happenned to us a while ago, seems like someone played with the anamorphic set up but we couldn't get a way to put it the right way; we reinstalled the software and everything went fine. JP
Didn't go that far, but definitly a weird menu that I would not recommend anyone touching, unless they understand what it does. Manual says little at all about it. Bill
