4 Channel SpotBox with Kalypso/Lance

I checked through the previous posts, and didn't find an answer to this one, so I apologize if this has been asked already. I was on a Kalypso with a 4 channel spotbox and Lance. My thinking was to do my looping 2 and 3 box animations on Spot 3 & 4, and Spot 1 & 2 for Replay animations, etc. My question is how to control the 2 pairs of channels independantly. For example, I built my replay at E-mem 01, recalling Channels A&B of the Lance (Channels 1&2 of the SB), and I built the 2 box at E-mem 19, recalling Channels C&D of Lance (SB 3&4) and looping. The "problem" occured when I called either effect up. Emem 1 would give me an error "problem cueing Channel C"; Emem 19 would give me "invalid loop for Channel A", causing a half-second delay in calling up the effec, throwing my timelines off. How do I separate the 2 completely? Does Spot 3/4 need a separate device number? Currently the Lance is Port 4, Address 1.

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

Thanks for the info everyone. I spoke to the engineer and he had no problem with me going in the ENG menus. I hear what you are saying about doing the loop manually, but I had 4 different boxes effects. 2 pregame, 2 in game, so I wanted to Emem control them.

Jeremy, you're on the right track, but you're going to configure 4 devices on one physical port. Yes, you can assign multiple PBuss devices to the same physical port, with different PBuss addresses. I always config my Kalypso with 4 devices, as Tiffee does - I call them Lance A through Lance D. This gives the most flexibility. And while we're on the subject, in your scenario, one thing I prefer to do is to use Spotbox's VDR panel to execute the loop, instead of the Lance. I know about turning on "Preserve Loop on Channel x" in the Lance firmware, but looping directly on the Spotbox takes the Lance "out of the loop" (so to speak), so there is one less thing that can compromise my background / double box / looping whatever.

Now, can 1 device be configured for 2 different Ports? Right now, the Lance is going in to Port 4, Address 1. Do I create another device on Port 4, Address 3 (for example)?

Thanks Mike, you're the best!! Now I just have to get engineering to change their setups, which won't be easy. This truck does all the home shows in LA for Fox Net....stuck in their ways and all. And since you're in catering, where's the coffee?????

Yes, create 4 PBUS devices in the ENG menu. You could also go with 2 devices (ch1+2 and ch3+4) but I prefer 4.

So how do I change the Pbus number in the Kalypso? Or does engineering need to change something?

Put each channel on it's own PBUS ID#. For each EMEM, only turn on the "Recall" in the Kalypso PBUS menu for the channels you want.
