Hello All,

Even though I'm here in NYC now, a buddy o' mine in San Diego is haveing some probelms with their DD35.

I'm takeing the liberty of helping him out.

It appears as though when he loads a config, the MASTER Time/Ememos from the previously loaded config appears. None of the Master Time/Ememos from the loaded config appear.

After re-boots and power cycles, NO Master Time/Ememos appear...

When a Master Time/Ememo is re-created, after exiting the edit menu, that very timeline dissappears.

Loading an effect from a disk seems to have no effect... Once that effect is transfered from the disk into the active application, the effect appears to be there... but when attempting to run the effect or edit the effect nothing is there to run or edit.

Everything else in the switcher (ME1, 2, 3, PGM/PST Time Ememos, Macros, etc) all work okay...

I've had similar experiences with this sort of thing when I was out in Phoenix... As I recall it took new software, and a GVG/Thompson Tech to fix the problems there..

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Thanks a Bunch!

Hello All, Thanks for the input and help... Looks like Thomson is gonna help them out, upgradeing their software and hardware. It's funny, though, that you should mention the "Lucky #18".... :) I in fact worked at that partiuclar station and knew the TD who had the unfortunate expereience of being the 18th person to load their config.... In fact... I once heard this story from an old boss of mine. He was drinking at a Bar in San Diego one night, and met up with a TD friend of his and, regaled him with the story of the "Lucky Number 18". The director said, "Gee I'd sure love to talk to the guy that put that code in the switcher"... The TD buddy said, "Really? well, he's right behind you..." The director turned around, and lo-and-behold one of the great switcher minds was having a beer in the seat right next door. The TD said, "Meet my buddy Helga". The director said hello and said, "So, what's with this 'lucky number 18' thing?" Helga replied: "Well... not everyone's perfect".

Hello, the software should be at lease V4.2.5. Higher version is recommend but from V4.5.7 more RAM is needed to be installed on the mainframe controller board. Another issue for the phenomenon could be too less RAM on the Sidepanel PC. This could happen if your panel is former RPS35-4L(X) type with standard motherboard inside. Very old ones have only 8MB. Upgrade to 64MB recommended. Regards Rainer
That was a known bug in earlier versions of SW. At one stage there was one such bug which occurred when you loaded configs around 18 times and then presto - what you stated happens....
Someone mentioned that bug elsewhere in the forum, apparently some engineer at Thomson intentionally introduced it in the software it order to give themselves a way to test it or something. I don't remember the exact reason, but an interesting consequence was that at one station a particular TD always ended up being the 18th person to load their software, so they got bitten by that bug every time they went in to cut a show.

SW update fixed this. In the mean time, you can pop the switcher hood and use the resets to reboot the panel. We now run XTENDD HD switchers. Good luck.
