HD Fast Forward?

In a couple of weeks, I am scheduled to work in an HD truck that lists a Fast Forward in its equipment specs. Perhaps I have just been spoiled, but I haven?t previously come across an HD Fast Forward. The FFV web site doesn't indicate that a HD deck exists. Has anyone seen an HD Fast Forward, or should I plan for upconverting SD?

Thanks,

Seth

Hi Folks, This thread is pretty stale, but if you're still intrested, Abekas has come out with an HD alternative for the SD Fast Forward Omega machines. The product is the ClipStoreMXc, and is in use in most of the Mobile Television Group HD trucks. Visit for more info. Abekas plans to sponsor a new forum on EditSuite.com that specifically for this product, for existing users to discuss. This new forum should start up within the next few weeks. -DJ
Hey Guys, I specifically asked about an HD FF at the Omega Booth (The guys that make the FF), and they said that maybe this year (2007) at NAB... Fingers crossed! -SA
They said HD FFV Omega was in the works at 2005 NAB. Seems to me like they've given up. They found success with their product for a use that was by accident. I don't think they can do and HD FFV that would make financial sense to them. Hence why they're eclipsed by EVS, Abekas, etc...

Thanks guys. I thought I was right about the Fast Forward, but wanted to be sure before talking to my client. They are probably going to add a 6-channel HD EVS for the show. I would get 2 channels configured as Spotbox. Mike: All is well here. I hope you can say the same. Rick: It is nice to know that when you ask someone to send regards, that it sometimes actually happens. Happy Holidays.

Our EVS people still want an XFile and networked EVS's to replace the HDCam decks. I wonder if a new FF would still have the removable drives or maybe gigabit networking? How about being able to be seen on an EVS network and use the XFile?? Yes, a dream I know. Rick, hope all is well with you. Happy holidays to you as well.

Hi Seth: Hope all is well. Happy Holidays! I received your hello about a month back, thank you - it's been a long time since I've seen you. Seth, there is no HD Fast Forward that I have ever seen as well. I just saw the new HD YES (New Orleans) truck yesterday which still has a Fast Forward onboard. Nice truck and they did things right but for the type of clients they are servicing, they didn't go out and purchase a SpotBox for obvious reasons. It sounds like you'll have to input your HD elements anamorphically and then upconvert for the proper aspect ratio. I do that all the time with the FOX 16:9 baseball elements I use. Hope that helps ... Have a great holiday season. Best regards, Rick PS. Hi Mike ... Happy Holidays to you too!

Seth, how are you and the family? I never heard of one, we keep bugging the company to get us at least two channels of HD SpotBox, still waiting on that. We have to upconvert the output of our FF. The issue we run into is the source material. Is it 4x3 or HD? I have had to waste a DME channel to aspect the HD footage so that on playback everything looks right.
