I ran into an issue where the SS aux would not take an ME as the key signal. I was feeding ME/3 as the fill and ME/2 as the matte. When SS 1 and 2 were paired I could change the key to any other source and see it. When I switched to the ME all I would see was black. Anyone have any ideas?

Try this: I'll assume we're using still channels 1 and 2 for this... 1- "Unpair" the still channels 2- Make M/E3 (video) the input for the still, and freeze it to still channel 1 3- Save that still 4- Make M/E2 (matte) the input for still channel 2, freeze and save to channel 2 5-"Pair" the two channels for playout This should get the desired results. Now, if you want to save that composited still to include vid and key, use the new still as an input to one of the other still channels and record it as a vid/key pair. Does this help? Tom
I did an ME copy then made the image a matte fill white. This hasn't been a problem in previous software versions.
I thought about it...a bit more clearly this time. Since you were trying to grab in "pair" mode, the switcher was looking for an actual key signal on the SS2 input...most likely why you saw black, since your primary ME output was just a matte with no actual key output. I believe that's where layered mode comes -- if you want a key output of an ME. So not being in "pair" mode, if you grabbed a still of ME3's output on SS1, then grabbed a still of ME2's output on SS2, this would work for you keying this graphic, right? You just couldn't grab it as a pair. Make sense? Matt

It has been a while since I've done it, but do you have to go into "layered mode" so that you can get the "key" output of an ME? I'm just wondering if you have to trick the still store if you are grabbing in "pairs"...make any sense? This disables the output of the A/B buss in your ME, and just gives a key output. Matt
