Hi. We got an 8000a a couple of months ago. It is not online, yet, but we are messing around to see what it can do.

Has anyone ever had this problem... The DME will not go into combiner mode (you can key DME seperately in different keyers, but not multiple channels in one key), which has happened a few times. A new one today, the DME would only work in combiner mode (multiple channels on one key, but would not accept different channels on different keys). This also affects the way a DME wipe functions.

The only way I have found so far to correct the problem is to reboot the DME, either from the frame, or throught the initialize in the menu.

Am I missing something that is not releasing channels properly. I am do a Global "clear work buffer" as well as all of the locals, but to no avail.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Todd

Hey Matt, Thanks for getting back to me. I'm sorry I was a little vague, but yes, I am releasing the DME channels in the key block by using the override button and turning off the DME. You can see the key go from a resized, for example, key to a straight key when the channel is released, so I know that it is working. Even after releasing all channels in the key block, a DME wipe pattern still does not work properly. If you do a single channel push as an auto trans, it will squeeze the b bus source and then pop back to the previous source. If you try a 2 channel, it will squeeze from a bus source to black, and then the b bus source pops on the screen. Very odd. Thaks, Todd

Todd...maybe I'm missing something, but when you do a global and local "clear work buffer", I don't believe that the channels of DME are released from their respective keyers, but are rather reset to your basic parameters. You would either have to clear each ME, or simply go to your key control block, and release the DMEs from the keyers they are assigned to. It sounds like maybe when you try to go into combiner mode and it won't take more than one channel, that perhaps your other DMEs are already tied-up elsewhere on the switcher? Just curious, how many channels of DME do you have? We have 4 DME channels at my shop, and we generally clear an ME as soon as we're done with it. That way, you know that if you need a DME channel somewhere else, that it will be available. Another idea is to program your effects to release the DME channels that you used at the last keyframe (I used to do this on the Kalypso) of an effect. Keep us posted. We want to see this work for you guys! Matt
