Hello,

Is there a way to delay the output of a GPI on the 8000?

Ideally it would be on a per GPI basis, but if not that then a global setting.

We have a situation where we need to have effects match from room to room, but the devices wont match timing wise...ie...one device is being upconverted for one room, and the other room won't have upconversion. Due to the u/c there will be a delay from when you see it, as compared to the non u/c room.

For example...I trigger out a profile that is a bed for the lower third tease...and then trigger a deko channel to reveal the text. If I built it in one room, then brought it to the other that has the delay...I would have an issue potentially on when the text would "show up". I realize the delay will be small, but it could be an issue for tiem specific effects.

I know I can just adjust timelines per rooms, but would rather not get into double building.

Thank you

Curt

Curt, then your only option is to figure out how much delay the one room has and use an electronic delay on the gear in the room that is NOT delayed. Put the delay in after the switchers GPI on the frame that is not being upconverted. You might need one delay box for each GPI being used. The Profile and Deko delays should be consistent no matter what effect is called up. BTW, isn't this move from 4x3 to 16x9 so much fun...

Rick, Thank you for the quick response. That is good to know about the delay...but I was hoping to get around doing this through a timeline.. A setup file would be ok though. I am trying to avoid having two timelines for one effect. Meaning..if I have one built to compensate for a delay, I can't bring that into another room that doesn't have the delay. Thank you Curt

Thank you Curt[/quote] Sure, piece of cake. If you're using a GPI timeline, just put a DELAY on the timeline. There is a button, called DELAY, on the timeline module. Press it, then enter the timecode amount you want to delay. It will physically slide the timeline by that much and KF 1 will not happen until then. Also, this DELAY feature works with every other region in the switcher, too. Saves having to make dummy keyframes at the beginning of an effect just to make it happen later. RE
