I've helped install a ThunderHD for our new control room and I want to hook up a com port and start playing with having the Kahuna talk to Thunder. It's a brand new world for us and I was wondering which protocol would be best. The application is TV news. Thanks in advance for any insight you all may have.

Thunder does support VDCP and I have used it a few times. Just be careful as some Thunders do have a slow cue time through the External interface control options. Also in the Thunder you might want to ensure that you check the force Pgm box in the interface menu. That way your "cue" will go to the channels pgm and not it's pvw. Les

VDCP appears to be on the list of supported protocols. I'll have to give that a shot. If that doesn't work, I'll move down the list. Thanks Ken!

VDCP would be best but I don't think Thunder talks that protocol. I'm pretty sure Thunder can talk P-Bus and BVW protocols. Between those two, I would pick P-Bus since you should be able to save the cueing and playback of specific clips in your Kahuna macros. Cheers, -= Ken =-
