We just transitioned from a GVG 3000 to a SONY 8000A. Our old grass was mounted flush with the cabinetry, which gave me a comfortable place to rest my hand while waiting to put in the next DSK. Unfortunately, our New Sony is mounted about 1 inch up from the surface of the cabinetry, which makes it very uncomfortable.

Has anybody been able to mount the SONY 8000 flush or does it always have to be mounted up off the surface.

Thanks for your input.

Greg

Ours are pretty much flush.... If they can't drop the panel in the console...maybe have a wedge of some sort...Not sure how much space is in between you and the console itself.. Or ..maybe look for some thinner wrist rests...like for keyboards...that might help make it a little less awkward.. Curt

The 8000's panel, in my opinion, is one of the most ergonomic out there..... it can be mounted almost completely flush. I think your problem must be the way it was installed. RE

Our 8k is an 1/8th.... maybe 1/4 of an inch above the console. I'd consider it pretty flush. It sitting slightly above the console never bothered me. It doesn't have to sit so high. I think it all depends on the console the switcher is sitting in. If the console is rebuilt or modified so that an 8k panel properly fits in it, you shouldn't have a problem.
