Hey looking into my first MLB Baseball for FSN Detriot, any suggestions or thoughts? I know it will be on a Kalypso, and FSN...just looking to see if anyone has anything I should expect. Thanks Much.

Sorry about the delayed reply, but the shows went well. I made some rookie mistakes in the Pre / Post game. I had DPOP on my ME3 preview and i have a tendency to double punch buttons in preview...that got me once. Loading setups saved a ton of time. I couldn't figure out how to get the dveous to copy to disk with one or two commands...but the actual game went really well. I learned a great bit and the next one will be better. Thanks for all the help!!!

Hi Stephan: I arrive sometime around 4 PM on Friday. I like to go to the Stadium for about 1/2 after I arrive to get some paperwork to the engineers and see a friend/colleague. I'm staying downtown and usually don't venture out too far when I'm there. if you like we can talk later this week. Best... Rick.
So they dumbed it down for you Rick ;) --kidding--
That's right Lou... they took pity on me. All these shows have to be simple because I'm not that good. =) Hope all is well with you! It's cold up here, I didn't pack for it. I've been away for a week now. Maybe I'll see you around as I fly in and out doing baseball on Saturdays! I usually do a little preliminary at certain stadiums on Friday's depending on what trucks we have. I try to make the transitions easy for the home TD's and Engineers. Have a great week. One more here (A's@White Sox) then home for more MLB and then Minneapolis Friday! Cheers, Rick.

Are any of you guys the Home TD for the Detriot Feed? I am just looking for the info on what may already be loaded on the truck and ready to go...just as a recap it is 9HDX (no dual). Interesting enough one game is SD, the next is HD.
I just finished the Detroit feed here in Chicago today. You don't have to treat teases or any other video. You will have to key and open like all other FOX shows (as I mentioned previously) and do a coming up. Its a few simple transitions so if you are comfortable making transitions on a switcher I would not worry about it. While I had a SpotBox their drives will be loaded. You should not worry about loading drives or anything along those lines. The reason why one show is SD is probably because it's on FSN+. That will not effect you in the least. You only need to capture a different bug! The regular FSN Detroit feeds are HD - or so they hope (inside joke). In any event, just go do the show or if your uncomfortable for any reason then don't take the show, but I would not lose sleep over this.
No worries, I am feeling rather comfortable. I just want to go into this series with as much information as possible. The last show I did brought enough surprises to almost give me a twitch...lol. I won't lose any sleep, at least not over a couple baseball games.

Yeah, don't you dare not use their drives, or go ahead and try to reload over them. That won't go over too well. Be prepared for the fox things they'll never tell you about, and just assume you'll have. If it is a dual be prepared to have six elements to key, with only four keyers. :)

Most production folks don't like reloading drives unless there is a valid reason to. I doubt that you will have enough time in the day to consider it and get the show on air.
Detroit will do some weird stuff like a FFV/Clipstore effect off of a package that already has a backend. The kind of production team that will want to play musical TD effects and make sure that the entire element reel makes it to air for the sake of whatever bosses maybe watching. I'd beware of using their drives without checking everything first. I've had their drives in other cities with awful levels, inconsistent timecodes, missing effects, and promos recorded at random places. Where you'd save more time just loading them from the tapes than you would trying to forensically decode what's been recorded on them. You'd think whoever loaded it did it as a joke :) I've also experienced when they've gone into non-dual cities that they'll end up with a really bad MTVG truck (lol, I know, really bad and MTVG, but even the worst of the worst).
Does the Production Crew take exception to reloading the FF drives? I will most likely reload all the elements. What do you think of 9HDX, this won't be a dual, just a split.

Tom, thanks for correcting me... it IS 9HDX... Lou, two or so years back I think almost every FSN effect built to that point,EVER, was used for some reason or another. Made no sense to me. Last year I was lucky, they opened in Baltimore and didn't have time to pre-load Fast forward drives, we were on a sub truck, and they used only about eight DDR effects. Got to love a production crew who uses effects that aren't on the current TD load real. You know, things that are two or three years old. Almost like Tamps Bay using that stupid box for a base runner/tag box when it was actually meant as a replay method if you had a controversy.
Beautiful. I am looking forward to it. I haven't seen the "FSN Detriot" look so I just want to make sure I have an Idea going in, I would imagine it is like FSN Pittsburgh or Ohio.
The FSN Detroit look is basically the same as the other regionals -- few variations from production team to production team. They each want something a little different.

You'll most likely be on our home truck 9HDX. Great truck and great EIC as Mr. Cumbo had indicated. Brian Maas will probably be directing and he is excellent at letting you know what he wants. They have their own clipstore drives so most of the stuff will already be loaded. You can even use the regular TD's setup if you wanted and lucky you you'll have ME1 available to you as well!

Probably a pre-game show. Last year they didn't treat teases. If you are working in Detroit, then you may be doing a dual feed. (check who they are playing.) Their home truck, MTVG 6 HDX has a good EIC, if they are using that truck. Busy but good show.
